Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, has created this sweet hearts nail design, using Gellux mini shades. Recreate this at home using our step by step guide. Valentine Nails Step by Step

If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

Valentine Nails Step by Step

Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat) and then apply a thin layer of Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat).  Next, apply two thin layers of Gellux Builder Gel Rose Pink (£11.95 +vat) curing each layer for 60 seconds. Lightly buff the nails for a matt look, and use a nail brush to remove any dust.

Step Two

Using a thin liner art brush, paint a thickish stripe down the middle of each nail using Gellux Mini Pink Pom Pom (£6.00 +vat). Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Three

Then, using a dotting tool, apply four dots close together on the Pink Pom Pom line, using Gellux Mini Really Red (£6.00 +vat).  Use a thin art liner brush to drag the dots down and create a heart shape. Repeat 4 times on each nail. Then cure for 60 seconds

Step Four

Apply Gellux Builder Gel in Cool White (£11.95 +vat) with a dotting tool to add some dots around the hearts. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Five

For that glossy finish apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 seconds.  Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe to remove the sticky residue and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
