Protein Formula has recruited celebrity nail artist, Robbie Tomkins as their brand ambassador. Protein Formula Brand Manager, Jess Theaker says; “Robbie’s expertise in all things nails make him the perfect partner for Protein Formula. With a host of prescriptive nail care for every nail concern we are more than just a nail treatment brand, so it’s important to work with professionals such as Robbie who understand the importance of nail health when creating a flawless manicure.”
Robbie’s celebrity clients include Amanda Seyfried, Claire Foy, Gillian Anderson, Hailey Bieber, Joan Collins, Kate Moss, Lashana Lynch, Lily James, Naomi Campbell, Olivia Colman, Paloma Faith and Sophie Turner as well as editorial clients including ELLE, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, Vanity Fair, Vogue and W. He said “Working as a session artist means I regularly work on natural nails and use nail polish (as opposed to gel polish) and the one question I get asked more than anything else is ‘how do I make my nails grow stronger?’ I’ve used many different nail strengtheners over the years so when I was approached by Protein Formula I was curious to discover what was so different about their products. The four different prescriptive nail treatments harness the power of protein and other wonder ingredients such as AHA’s and Biotin and I’m happy to report they actually really work. But don’t just take my word for it, the proof is in the pudding.”
The latest National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) quarterly State of the Industry survey shows the sector in a positive position as it generally remains stable. The signs of positivity seen in previous surveys in April and July have slowed across some indicators but overall, the situation is steady, with a slight rise in businesses making a small or good profit (45%) and a similar number of businesses breaking even (42%). Slightly fewer businesses are making a loss which continues to be a move in the right direction.
The general trend towards increasing prices continues to even off. Over the previous three months, 55% of businesses raised their prices and a further 51% will do so over the next three months. Reliance on external support continues to stabilise; over half of businesses (56%) are still either partially or completely reliant on Government support but 44% say that they are not reliant on continued support. The most positive finding is that three quarters of those surveyed said they are confident in their survival.
However, whilst staffing and recruitment intentions also remain steady they are still in negative territory with only 27% were definitely or likely to take on new staff in the next three months (similar to 28% in July) and 63% saying that it was unlikely or that they definitely would not be hiring. The lack of experienced staff continues to be a huge problem for the industry, as outlined by the NHBF Careers at the Cutting-Edge report in May 2022.
