Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, has created this cute summer bee nail design, using Gellux shades. Recreate this at home using our step by step guide. Summer Bees Nails Step
If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others. If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.
Step One
Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat) and then apply two thin layers of Gellux Builder Gel Rose Pink (£11.95 +vat) curing each layer for 60 seconds. Lightly buff the nails for a matt look, and use a nail brush to remove any dust.
Step Two
Using a fine art brush, apply Gellux Mini Inky Blue (£7.25 +vat) to create a French tip on the thumb and on the little finger. Do the same on the index finger with Gellux Mini Lemon Meringue (£7.25 +vat. Then, again using Mini Lemon Meringue, paint a stripe down the middle finger. Cure each layer for 60 seconds.
Step Three
With a fine art brush, draw a thin line down each side of the yellow stripe using Mini Inky Blue. Then, using a dotting tool, create two little oval shapes on the ring finger using Mini Lemon Meringue. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Four
Now use a very fine line art brush to apply Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat) to the oval shapes, giving them thin stripes and a thicker one at the end to create the Bee effect. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Five
On the ring finger use a dotting tool and Gellux Purely White (£11.95+vat) to add two dots to the body of the bee for its wings, and dots around the two bees. Next, on the middle finger, create a circle of white dots and then drag the dots to the centre with a thin art brush, creating petal shapes. Afterwards, apply Mini Inky Blue and place a dot in the centre of the petals.
Using the same method as Steps 3-5 create the same pattern (bee and flower) on the thumb. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Six
For that glossy finish apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 seconds. Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe to remove the sticky residue and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
