Festival Fun Nails – Step by Step

August 7th, 2023

August 7th, 2023

With festival season in full swing, Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, has created this Festival Fun design for your nails, using Gellux shades from the Free Spirit collection.  Recreate this at home using our step by step guide.

If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat) and then apply a thin layer of Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat).

Step Two

Apply 2 thin layers of Gellux Builder Gel Rose Pink (£11.95 +vat) curing each layer for 60 seconds. Wipe off any sticky excess with Prep & Wipe, then lightly buff nails for a matt look, using a nail brush to remove any dust.

Step Three

Apply colour to the tip of the nail, using Gellux shades Glorious and Free, Go with the Flow, Joie De vivre, Be A’maize’ing and Maple Dreams Come True (all £11.95 +vat)).  Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Four

This where we now personalise each nail…

Little finger: use Be A’maize’ing and Joie De Vivre shades. Apply the gel with a dotting tool to create splashes. Cure for 60 seconds.

Ring finger:  using Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat) create the eyes with a dotting tool and the smile with a nail art liner brush.

Middle finger: create the flowers by using a dotting tool, place Gellux Purely White (£11.95 +vat) dots in a circle then drag them down to join them together. Cure for 60 seconds, then add a tiny amount of Be A’maize’ing to the centre of the flower using a dotting tool. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Five

Index finger: Create the multi coloured dots using a dotting tool with Joie De Vivre, Be A’maize’ing, Glorious and Free and Run Wild with Me. Randomly dot them as prefered.

Thumb: create the heart with Joie De Vivre and a dotting tool.  Place two dots at the top next to each other, then using a liner brush drag the dots down to join to the point. Finish by using the dotting tool to create dots either side of the heart. Then cure for 60 seconds.

Step Six

For that glossy finish apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 seconds.  Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe to remove the sticky residue and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
