With wedding season starting, Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, has created this twist on the traditional French tip with this going wild design, using Gellux shades.
If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others. If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.
Step One
Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat) and then apply a thin layer of Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat).
Step Two
Apply Gellux Maple Dreams Come True (£11.95 +vat) to the thumb creating a French tip. Then apply full coverage using Gellux Mini Absolute Greige (£7.25 +vat) to the index finger. Continue with Gellux Be A- maize-ing (£11.95 +vat) to the middle fingers to create a French tip again, and Gellux Purely White (£11.95 +vat) to the ring finger only covering part of the tip at angle. Lastly, apply Gellux Wicked Game (£11.95 +vat) to the little finger as a French tip with a flick at the end. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Three
Applying Maple Dreams Come True and Wicked Game to the ring finger, create two curved lines using a fine art liner brush. Cure for 60 seconds
Step Four
Apply Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat) to the ring finger to create a leopard print and a cow print effects. Cure for 60 seconds
Step Five
Apply a thin line of Gellux Steal the Show (£11.95 +vat) along the edge of the Purely White using a liner art brush. Also, use a dotting tool to apply Steal the Show to the middle of the leopard print on the ring finger. Then, apply Black Onyx to the index fingers creating a zebra print over the Absolute Greige. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Six
For that glossy finish apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 seconds. Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe to remove the sticky residue and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
