With Easter almost upon us, Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, has created this fabulous Easter design using Gellux shades.
If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others. If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.
Step One
Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat). Apply a thin layer of Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat).
Step Two
Mix Gellux Mini Lemon Meringue with Gellux Purely White (both £11.95 +vat each) to get a pastel yellow on the thumb and use a thin liner brush to create a V shape tip at the end of the nail. Then apply Gellux shades Beach You To It to the index finger, Are You Shore to the middle finger and Go With The Flow (all £11.95 +vat) on the pinky using the same method. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Three
Using a gel brush, apply Purely White to the ring finger, covering just the tip of the nail almost like a half-moon. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Four
After curing use a thin liner brush to create 2 oval shapes on the top of the half-moon to make the shape of bunny ears. Curing for 60 seconds.
Step Five
Next, using a thin liner art brush, apply Beach You To it into the middle of the bunny ear shapes we have created. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Six
Use Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat) to create eyelashes with a thin liner brush and a dotting tool for the heart shaped nose. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Seven
Using a dotting tool, create little flowers across the top of the bunny’s head using Are You Shore, Go With The Flow, Mini Lemon Meringue and Gellux Sea You Later (£11.95 +vat). Next, using Black Onyx and a cocktail stick, place a tiny dot into the middle of the coloured dots to create that flower effect. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Eight
Using Black Onyx and a cocktail stick, apply tiny spots and Mia-shaped dots to the rest of the coloured fingers to give that Mini Egg effect. Cure for 60 seconds.
Step Nine
For that glossy finish apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 seconds. Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe to remove the sticky residue and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
