Industry News

Men’s beauty brand Shakeup Cosmetics have signed a retail deal with Boots that will see the Bath-based indie brand expand their UK high-street presence to over 350 stores.

Shakeup Cosmetics was founded by twin brothers Jake Xu and Shane Carnell-Xu, after they suffered from Rosacea and struggled to find cosmetic products designed specifically for men’s skin.  The duo believe that the pursuit of beauty is no longer exclusive to women but is rather a component of a more modern lifestyle. And more importantly, it’s become the embodiment of self-care and directly affects the self-esteem and mental wellbeing of today’s modern man. This is certainly reflected in the exponential growth in popularity of men’s cosmetics globally. Major retailers have been putting more focus on this category than ever before.

Boots is no exception and is set to ‘shake up’ their men’s beauty offering in their biggest category rebuild in years. Shakeup, being one of the fastest-growing brands in this space, has secured a multi-store listing which will see them launching their innovative and multi-purpose range of products in over 170 Boots stores nationwide from 20th March 2023.

World renowned Makeup artist Bobbi Brown recently spilled the beans in her Harper’s Bazaar Take The Edge Off‘ series revealing that she swears by Dr. Bronner‘s Peppermint Soap (£9.69) for all her personal care needs. She even goes as far as to say; “It’s my favourite. I have it in every shower and every bathroom.”

Celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2023, Dr. Bronner’s is a household name, much like Bobbi is to the makeup industry. Known for its 18-in-1 uses, this organic soap has become a cult favourite for its incredible cleaning properties. In fact, one of its most popular uses is for cleaning make-up brushes – a technique that even went TikTok viral thanks to the talented MUA Jamie Genevieve (viewed over 300,000 times).  Not only is Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap tough enough to remove stubborn make-up, but also gentle enough to preserve the condition of brushes, making it a perfect choice for eco-conscious individuals.  Available from drbronner.
