The competition, directed by leading MUA Lan Nguyen Grealis, saw make-up artists compete in five categories over two-days, each showcasing the skills it takes to become a top name in the industry. Our Publisher and Editorial Director Emma Rutherford was delighted to join the judging panel, along with other industry professionals Yasmin Heinz, Armand Beasley, Jennifer Jane, Louise Young, Martin Carter, Jo Sugar, Phyllis Cohen, James Mac, Tanya Noor, Diana Kennedy and Yong-Chin Breslin
On the Sunday, MUAs competed in the Bodypainting category, with looks centred around the theme of The Greatest Painters Of Our Time, the Editorial category, where competitors created iconic show looks inspired by Savage Beauty – Alexander McQueen, and the Film category, where MUAs were tasked with creating a modern character from a recognisable cartoon franchise Disney.
On Monday, MUAs were tasked with creating a classic bridal look in the Bridal category. There was also a category which took place off the floor – the Image Award, with a theme of Life in Colour.
