Santa Hat Nails – Step by Step

December 14th, 2022

December 14th, 2022

Our latest Christmas nail design is these sweet santa hats by Salon System nail expert Caroline Roberts, owner of Nail Fairy, using Gellux shades.

If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

Prep the nails and push back the cuticles. Shape and buff the natural nail bed with a grey and yellow buffer. Dust and wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat). Apply a thin layer of Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat).

Apply 2 thin layers of Gellux Builder Gel Rose Pink (£11.95 +vat) curing each layer for 60 seconds. Wipe off any sticky excess with Prep + Wipe. Then lightly buff nails for a matt look, then use a nail brush to remove any dust.

Step Two

Apply Gellux Guess Who (£11.95 +vat) to the tip of the nails creating a French tip. Then, using a thin liner art brush, drag the colour up to create a tail on the one side. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Three

Apply Gellux Purely White (£11.95 +vat) with a thin liner brush over the joining end of the white then feather out the product from the edges to create that furry effect.  Next, using a dotting tool, apply a dot of Purely White on the top of the hat’s tail and feather the edge to create a pom pom effect. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Four

Finish the design by applying Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) curing for 60 seconds.  Wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
