Spooky Hallowe’en Nails – Step By Step

October 5th, 2022

October 5th, 2022

It’s October – one of our favourite months here at Warpaint – and Hallowe’en is just around the corner.  In the run up to it we will be sharing content with you to inspire you in your own designs.   Remember to share yours with us on our socials.

We are kicking off the season with this a spooky hallowe’en nail design created by Salon System nail expert Karen Louise using Gellux.

If you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

Prepare the nails, file to shape, push back cuticle and gently buff the nail plate.  Brush away any dust and wipe over with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat).  Apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry.   Apply a thin coat of Gellux Easy Off Base Coat (£11.95 +vat) to the nails and cure.

Step Two

Using Gellux Hush-Hush (£11.95 +vat) apply your first coat and cure. Then apply the second coat and cure again.

Step Three

Drop a small amount of Gellux Glamping, All Nighter and Black Onyx (all £11.95 +vat), to a nail art palette. Now using a detailing brush with All Nighter create a slimy dripping nail effect on the pinky finger, cure.

Step Four

Using Black Onyx and your striping brush, create your mummy effect nail art. Start off by doing a double zig zag across the nails then build till your ring finger and index are fully mummified.

Step Five

Using Glamping create the slime effect on the thumb nail and also inside some of the index finger so it looks like its oozing out between the lines, cure for 30 seconds.

Step Six

Using Black Onyx outline your slime and add small waves to create depth in your slime and flash cure. Then, using Hush-Hush apply different size drops onto the pinky finger for the eyeballs and cure.

Step Seven

Then, apply a drop of Glamping to one eyeball, All Nighter to another and then mix Hush-Hush and Glamping together to create a lighter purple for the 3rd eyeball and cure. Then, add a small dot of Black Onyx for the pupil to finish the eyes. Cure for 30 seconds.

Step Eight

Now using your detailing brush create your zombie face on the middle finger. Before you cure, clean off your brush and then blend the eyes and teeth in order to create a grey gruesome effect, cure for 30 seconds.

Step Nine

Finally, apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat), making sure to cap the free edge, and cure.  Next wipe the nails with Prep + Wipe and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).

Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
