Industry News

IT Cosmetics this week launched a new campaign, “Beautiful Without IT, Beautiful With IT” and also announced a new group of spokespeople, a collective of real people who inspire confidence and champion authenticity. Nadiya Hussain will star in the upcoming CC+ Cream x Confidence campaign and will feature in IT Cosmetics’ launches throughout the year. This campaign will hero real people and advocates, from its Head Office employees to Beauty Advisors and genuine IT Cosmetics consumers. As with all previous campaigns, IT will celebrate real skin with zero retouching.

Nadiya says: “We all find confidence in different ways, I find my boldness in being different, being unique and knowing that there is only one of me. For everyone reading this there is only one of you! It is not always easy to celebrate the thing that makes you different. It has always been my skin. The colour that my body is enveloped in has made me feel excluded and unsure of the thing that I am most proud of today. To find a product that not only allows me to wear my skin with even more confidence but also makes me feel prouder of who I am, is the kind of campaign that I want to put my face to.”

The CC+ Confidence campaign went live from 7th September across digital, social media & OOH and also includes current Brand Ambassador and makeup artist Rose Gallagher and creator and author Natalie Lee ‘Style Me Sunday’.

Beehives, Bobs & Blowdries, the UK’s first exhibition dedicated to the importance of hair and the salon in UK society is back with additional content and a focus on sustainability and hair futures.  From 17th September to 16th October 2022, this important exhibition will take place at The Piece Hall, Halifax, coinciding with Heritage Open Days Festival. The Caygill Rooms in the spectacular, grade 1 listed building, will play host to what will be a fantastic celebration of British hairdressing, showcasing the most iconic looks of the past 70 years.

After a hugely successful launch in 2018, fashion research consultant and senior academic, at Solent University, Donna Bevan (FRSA,) and renowned, award-winning hairdresser Andrew Barton Hon Doc, have brought this exhibition back with the ambition to re-frame the hair and fashion story. The exhibition will tell the tale of how hairdressing has played an influential part in fashion and popular culture, culminating in the future of the salon and the importance of sustainability.

Untangling the complex history of hair is a mean feat, but one of great importance. The politics of hair has deep roots, from ritual shaves to the spirituality of dreadlocks. Beehives, Bobs & Blowdries will explore the symbolic value of hair and its cultural heritage and is privileged to have Sharon Lloyd, steer at the British Beauty Council and founding member of FACE, develop the black hair content. The exhibition will also showcase the work of Beth Kabuga, a Technical Instructor for BA Hons – Make-up and Hair Design at Solent University.

Digital tokens have become a hot topic in the beauty industry. The emergence of blockchain technology and the launch of beauty-specific NFTs are driving innovation across the entire beauty sector. With digital tokens spreading across the industry, beauty brands now have the opportunity to challenge the way beauty is bought and sold. Swedish beauty-tech disruptor FOREO, just put its renowned LUNA on the blockchain and became the first skincare brand ever to launch digitalised versions of its must-have products as an NFT before the conventional launch. Beauty-tech giant is giving away all the proceedings from the NFTs to three charities in the brand’s continuous efforts to promote both skin and mental health: Sweden-based Tjejzonen, as well as US charities Hope Givers and National Scleroderma Foundation.

FOREO is launching five different NFTs, each representing one product of the brand’s latest innovation – the LUNA 4 collection, brand’s flagship range, synonymous for clean and healthy skin. Each NFT will be available in 50 variants, granting the consumers exclusive access to a limited edition of 250 NFTs. On top of that, FOREO is releasing one special edition NFT to be sold at auction. The artist signing the most wanted piece of the entire LUNA collection is Mariam, a talented female NFT designer rapidly gaining popularity and recognition in a male-dominated NFT scene. The entire profit from selling the NFTs will be directly donated to charities helping people who struggle with mental health and various skin conditions. This includes the money from the auction as well as all the royalties generated from the NFT trade, solidifying further the brand’s long term commitment towards destigmatising mental health issues and creating a self-sustainable healthy community.
