Event season is back in full swing and the Warpaint team headed up to the Glasgow SEC on Sunday 12th and Monday 13th June for Scottish Hair and Beauty, alongside Scottish Barber. It was great to welcome thousands of beauty professionals, salon owners and students and experience how Scotland does beauty show. We had a ball.
Across the two days, the Warpaint Extra stage featured a fantastic mix of local artists and brands, from Bodypaint to lashes, beauty to creative – as well as our signature panel discussions at the centre of each days’ programme.
Monday’s Stage
Monday began with bodypainter, Cat Finlayson, displaying her unique stencils and freehand paint techniques to create depth and texture, matched with recyclable paper accessories, for a look reflecting her Scottish homeland.
Next up was lash queen, Liana Frappola, introducing her fully sustainable brand, Northern Lashes, with a demo entitled Sustainability in the Beauty and Make-up Industry, showing how to source and use sustainable products in your work as a makeup artist.
Sunday’s panel discussion featured Cat, Liana, Victoria Louise MUA and Glasgow’s Own Glamour Gran Ann with the topic Mental Health and Makeup Artistry: how to help your clients and yourself.
Demo number four on Sunday came from Victoria Louise MUA and was entitled Instagram Makeup Looks. Award-winning makeup artist, Victoria Louise, demoed an eye-catching look for you to try at home using the B Perfect palette Taboo created in collaboration with Lord Chyna.
The final demo of the day was a masterclass in makeup for all ages. Using her Glam Goddess palette, Glasgow’s own Glamour Gran Ann had the audience enthralled showing how to create a beautiful soft eye using her recently launched palette and talking about mental health.
Tuesday’s Stage
Day two began with Kathryn Philip of Glasgow’s BPERFECT makeup artists highlighting tips and tricks on how to get that flawless summer skin that lasts, using their new Chroma Cover range.
Cat Finlayson was back on stage next with another of her patriotic bodypaint patterns on model Izabela, this time featuring the unicorn of Scotland, which has long been associated with purity and innocence.
Monday’s panel discussion featured Cat Finlayson, Victoria Louise MUA and Miki Evue, tutor at Salford College and Founder of SHELEN. The topic, makeup artist education and how to find what’s right for you, was very appropriate, as all three artists teach alongside their freelance careers.
The weekend’s stage wrapped up with a session on creating Avant Garde looks hosted by SHELEN founder, Miki Evue, with the look created by Shelen’s Senior Artist, Claudia Dale. Claudia is an experimental make-up artist who brings colour and creativity to every piece of work.
Scottish Hair and Beauty will be back on Sunday 16th and Monday 17th April 2023. For more details, check here.
