July has arrived and, along with the tennis, the summer appears to have made an appearance. To celebrate Salon System’s newest nail expert Natalie Farrow from Golden Triangle Nails has created this abstract Animal Magic design.
If you don’t have Gellux products to hand you can substitute them for others. If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.
Prep the nails. File to shape, push back the cuticle and buff the nail plate. Cleanse nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£4.20 +vat), apply two coats of Gellux Light Pink Builder Gel (£11.95 +vat), curing for 60 seconds between each layer
For the Animal Magic techniques on the 3 fingers of each hand, use a fine liner brush and Gellux Untamed (£11.95 +vat) to colour the cuticle section of the nail. Apply two coats, curing in between.
Using Gellux Purely White (£11.95 +vat) apply a ‘swoosh’ section in the middle section of the nail bed, again using a fine liner brush.
Then apply Gellux Secure In the Nude (£11.95 +vat) to the next section.
Using Gellux For-Ever Green (£11.95 +vat) shade colour in the tip of the nail, making sure to leave enough space for the leaf nail art.
Going back to the Untamed section, apply a thin layer of Gellux Clear Base + Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) but do not cure. Then, with a dotting tool and Gellux Maple Dreams Come True (£11.95 +vat), paint giraffe style prints across the nail and watch it bloom.
In the Purely White section, use Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat) to draw your zebra stripes. These don’t have to be perfect, use thick and thin lines for variety and depth.
Next, using Gellux Playful Plum (£11.95 +vat) in the Secure In The Nude section, use a dotting tool to draw the dots of a leopard print design. Cure before doing the outer design.
Again, using GLLUX Black Onyx, draw the outer design for the leopard print, then also draw your leaf designs over the whole length of the For-Ever Green top section of the nail. Use a fine brush for the line and tiny blobs of colour that you then drag away to create the leaf shapes.
Apply two coats of For-Ever Green to little finger and Maple Dreams Come True to index finger and cure 60 seconds. Then apply Gellux Matte Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure.
Finish with a coat of Gellux Super Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat). Add a second coat if you can still feel any glitter pieces. Cure for 60 seconds and then wipe over the nails with Prep + Wipe and oil the cuticles with Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
