May 4th, 2022
On Monday 25th May United Makeup Artists Expo (UMAE) hosted our first live, in person, Warpaint make up competition in over two years. Taking place in Liverpool, we welcomed a high volume of contestants from a range of colleges.
Emma Rutherford, Warpaint’s Editorial Director, hosted the competition, and gathered a collection of industry experts to judge the looks the students designed and created. Students competed in Bodypainting – themed “all the world’s a stage”, Creative – themed “sacred spaces”, Fashion – themed “geometry”, Character – themed “the Marvel universe” and Bridal – themed “international bride”.
The judges were impressed by the high standard, making it a tough decision to choose the winning looks.
However, the winners of the 2022 UMAE Warpaint Make-Up Competition were:
Bodypainting judged by Cat Finlayson and Nick Wolfe. This was definitely the hardest fought category, with very little to choose between these two entries.

Congratulations to all the winners – we look forward to seeing what you achieve in the industry as you move forward. A massive thank you to all the competitors and the tutors who supported them. It was fabulous to see you all after so long away.
