This month’s Kit Saviours features Armand Beasley, celebrity makeup artist, beauty presenter and writer, actor and a key member of the Warpaint family.

Having started as an actor, he trained during his “resting periods” in skincare, make up and fragrance to expand his skills.  This led to him setting up a Personal Beauty Studio in conjunction with House of Fraser.  He then started appearing regularly on radio and TV as a beauty expert, including GMTV with Armand creating makeup and beauty looks for members of the public.  He has also appeared on UK and global TV and radio networks as presenter and regular guest, as well as writing and contributing to beauty columns for publications around the world.  He also has worked on editorial shoots internationally, from Greece to the Oscars in LA, to fashion shows in Delhi and society weddings in New York.

Armand has been leading seminars on grooming front of house staff for corporations including British Airways and the Rocco Forte Group.  He regularly fronts positive beauty seminars ranging from 120 to 2000 people.   For many years Armand has hosted the Warpaint stage for us at the Professional Beauty UK trade shows, and in 2019 Armand hosted India’s very first Make up Week live from Mumbai, which was an enormous success.

Still working as an actor, you may well catch him on BBC1 later this year.  However, one of his proudest moments has been co-creating the 100% natural high-shine nourishing multipurpose balm with BuzzBalm Beauty, Pro Body Glow which launched in October 2019 to rave reviews, and has become a firm favourite with MUAs, consumers and celebrities alike.

Throughout all his success, his down to earth nature and sense of humour ensure his feet stay firmly on the ground, no matter who his client is. After all, everyone deserves star treatment!  We have persuaded him to let us rifle through his kit bag.

Armand said:  This is such a tricky list to compile!   I’ve been in the industry for over 25 years and there have been so many occasions when products that I’ve become obsessed with have sadly been discontinued- I know that other professionals as well as consumers feel my pain with that.  As a cruelty-free makeup artist and beauty expert here are my current kit faves…in no particular order:

Skn-rg Collagen Boosting Face Mask

Depending on how much time I have with my clients, this plumping, soothing and rejuvenating face mask is a god send. Apply onto a cleansed skin in a generous layer to face and neck avoiding the eye area, and leave up to 20mins. Skin will feel refreshed and super smooth. It’s essential for me prior to any TV or presenting engagement!

Skn-rg The Matrix

Another favourite product from the multi-award winning British brand that creates cutting edge skincare that’s organic and/or natural. This plant based equivalent to retinol really helps to soften lines and aids in regeneration, providing an improved texture to the skin.

Albus and Flora Multiactive Lip Balm SPF30 in Naked

There’s a range of lip tints available in the range but my go to is the clear balm. Perfect for prepping lips and with ingredients like Alpine Rose it’s great for clients who suffer with cold sores. Petrochemical free and great for the whole family…bye bye dry chapped lips!

Emani Double Lash Mascara

This vegan-friendly formula not only gives clump-free volume, it also helps to stimulate lash growth.

Nanshy Brushes

A PETA approved brush brand that has been a fave of mine for a few years now. The special synthetic bristles distribute the makeup beautifully without scattering the product. Special sustainably sourced beechwood handles and nickel based fastenings hold onto the bristles securely.

Pat McGrath Permagel Ultra Glide Pencil Liner in Black

In my humble opinion the best pencil liner on the market at the moment. It has longevity, super soft and comfortable to use and wear. Great, even on oily eyelids.

Buzzbalm UK Pro Body Glow by Armand Beasley

I’m so proud of this beauty! I co-created this 100% natural, high shine, nourishing, multipurpose balm with ethical British beauty brand Buzzbalm. I was inspired to create it by my client, Academy Award Winning actress and philanthropist Goldie Hawn. Pro Body Glow is great for photo shoots, red carpet, chilling dates and dinner dates to make the body subtly glisten as well as nourish dry and dehydrated skin. We’ve had so much positive feedback from people saying that it’s helped with eczema and even stretch marks. Great at revitalising the appearance of old tattoos!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Fixer

I use this on every single client to set the makeup. It’s an iconic product!

Emani Bye Bye Shine

A translucent pressed powder that helps to absorb excess shine without looking cakey.

Handi-Bac Sanitising Spray

A handy portable sanitising spray that’s 70% alcohol but is wrapped in a synthetic material so you can sanitise your hands and even wipe down your devices too. Fits easily in a pocket and is available in a range of scents.
