Avon has just released new research today in partnership with the NO MORE Foundation to raise awareness for the signs of verbal abuse. The research, which ties in to the UN’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence which started yesterday (25th November), reveals that one in five women are subjected to constant verbal abuse by a partner.

With a network of relationships within their communities and peer to peer support available, Avon is offering training to its five million Representatives worldwide. In the UK, Women’s Aid and Avon are piloting a specialist training programme in Bristol for Representatives, offering on-the-ground, community support for those facing abuse in any form.

Breaking the silence around gender-based violence, Avon and NO MORE have launched an online portal to provide people with crucial information about the signs of verbal abuse, what to do if someone you know is in an abusive relationship and where to go for help, including a collection of inspiring stories from survivors.

The first student has passed out with flying colours through the beauty academy launched last year by Chichester’s multi award winning, Q Hair and Beauty.  20-year-old Zara Evans of Chichester was delighted to be the academy’s first success story and has gone on to achieve her first position as beauty therapist within the salon group.

Q developed the pioneering concept as a way of providing outstanding training and hands- on experience for the next local generation of beauty therapists and technicians.  In partnership with Rewards Hair and Beauty Academy, the scheme opened at Q’s Donnington branch in June last year and was accredited by City and Guilds to deliver Level 2 Apprenticeship Diploma for Beauty Professionals.  The academy offers all aspects of beauty education and as students complete training on any treatment, they are integrated into the salon environment to increase their skills and confidence with both clientele and a wide range of therapies.
