Chase Aston is an International Make Up Artist for Editorial, Film, TV, Celebrity & Red Carpet and is Kate Beckinsale’s personal MUA.
Having always been obsessed with art, fashion & beauty from a very early age and always reading his sisters Vogue and Cosmopolitan magazines, Chase knew from the age of 15 that he wanted to be a part of the industry. As soon as he could, he contacted all the London Hair & Make Up agencies that were around at the time, and asked to assist any of their artists, especially the ones whose work he most admired. Over time he assisted, watched, learned and absorbed as much knowledge as possible, and in his free time, would do make up tests with young photo assistants (some who are today’s top leading photographers), stylists and other crazy, like-minded creatives.
After a few years, he became an independent freelancer finding himself an agent, and spent the next few years building up his skills and craft, before leaving London to go start his international career, first locating to Milan, then Paris and finally New York where he lived and worked full time. Whilst in New York his editorial career flourished and he worked with the iconic supermodels, shooting covers and fashion/beauty stories for Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, and numerous global glossies, and over his 35-year career he has worked on over 300 magazine covers.
With his career flourishing in New York and Europe, he became a global makeup spokesperson for The Body Shop, and was a Global Beauty Ambassador with them for 17 years. During this time he learnt about product development, global strategy and how different countries around the world develop and promote products for diverse and ethnic markets which elevated his knowledge and skills above and beyond those of a standard makeup artist.
After spending time shooting beauty campaigns, commercials, music videos, fashion shows and numerous celebrities, iconic pop bands and artistes, editorials and magazine covers, Chase decided that he wanted to challenge himself further as an MUA, and to spread his wings wider in the industry, by branching out to working in film, motion pictures and TV. So for the last seven years he has worked on some amazing film & TV projects as well as still working on selected editorial, advertising and beauty campaign projects.
We were thrilled when Chase, one of the loveliest men in the industry, shared his top ten skincare and makeup saviours with us. These are his essential kit staples for every project he works on.
This amazing mascara and wand impart instant volume, an intense black hue to the lashes, that are smudge/budgeproof, one coat for definition, two coats for drama and three coats for volumised luscious lashes.
I am currently shooting a movie in Las Vegas, USA where the daily temperature is between 100 to 108, and this amazing mascara formulation literally lasts all day long, flake-free and fabulous!!
This universal flattering Nude/pink lip liner is one of my absolute go too shades and products, it is becoming as Iconic as MAC Spice LipLiner, so natural, it suits all skin tones, wear alone buffed on the lip, under lip stick or paired with a sheer lip gloss…I have literally used this lipliner in 5 of my films, it’s that good!!!
I always prep my models, actors, and celebrities skin with these amazing masks, they impart intense hydration whilst smoothing and plumping the skin, good skincare will ensure that your make up will glide on, look flawless and last all day long, whilst protecting the wearers complexion during long 12hour + per day shooting schedules.
Amazing little eye jelly patches that are infused with so much amazing skincare, ingredients, that they literally re-vitalise tired, lined, puffy eyes instantly, soothing, smoothing and plumping out the delicate eye area. Fantastic for tired puffy eyes, especially after a long flight.
This is an absolute make up must have essential. This amazing balm imparts an intensive balm treatment to dried, chapped, stressed cracked lips, restoring the suppleness to the lips surface, whilst healing , I always prep the lips before any make up & skincare application, and I let the balm do its magic.💋
This fantastic creme based, colour correction SFP50 is a fusion of make-up and skincare. I very rarely use foundation on any of my film projects, I just use this amazing colour correcting cream as a primer, skincare, foundation all in one. If you want to team with foundation, then this amazing product works perfectly as a skin prep/primer….use alone, under make up or teamed with an anti-shine mattifying gel, so that your skin looks real and not caked or mask like.
This clear Brow freeze is perfect to prep the brows, especially unruly hairs that your actor does not want to trim or pluck …use very sparingly to comb through brows, to set, lift, sculpt, enabling you to create so many different brow looks, and best of all this amazing brow gel leaves no sticky flakey residue.
I very very rarely use powder on the skin, I like the effect of real skin to show through the make-up, so to avoid any powdery cakey mask like effect, this Anti Shine Instant Matte Gel, is perfect to take down any hotspots, shine, and best of all it is instant! Perfect for on set touch ups to ensure that the camera is not kept waiting.
This HD Cream Blush, Foundation and contour palette is the perfect accessory to have in your on set bag. The cream foundations suit most skin tones, you can also use these to contour, the blush tones can be used on the cheeks, swiped across the eyes or patted on the lips for a subtle wash of lip colour… a make up on the go essential…
Totally addicted to this (old) classic vitalizer, body toning , instant refreshing spray. I spritz constantly on my talent before, during, and at the end of the day, and on set, to instantly add energy and vitality. When the set is dark and oppressive, this magic in a bottle just gives an instant hit energy, and the fragrance is AMAZING!!!!
