Vegan and cruelty-free luxury beauty brand Hourglass Cosmetics have expanded its sustainability initiative with the launch of Curator Eyeshadow—a customizable eyeshadow collection that delivers pigment-rich dimension while utilising refillable packaging innovation. Curator marks a new milestone in Hourglass’ commitment to reinventing luxury cosmetics through cutting-edge technology and a conscientious approach to production.

Choose from 1-pan (£38), 3-pan (£96), or 5-pan (£156) luxe refillable palettes, customized with your choice of 40 highly pigmented shades across 4 finishes and used indefinitely to help reduce waste over time.  In lieu of virgin plastic, the palettes are consciously crafted from tin and post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, resulting in a waste reduction of 1 plastic bottle per 1-pan palette, 2 ½ plastic bottles per 3-pan palette, and 5 plastic bottles per 5-pan palette.  Additionally, each individual eyeshadow pan is made from recyclable aluminum.

To mark the launch Selfridges has unveiled an evocative, immersive pop-up experience that celebrates individual creativity through the power of choice. The Curator pop-up, features the brand’s first vegan Eye Bar, where you can curate your own palette with endless looks for every mood.  You can collaborate with a makeup pro to design the ultimate artistry palette or draw inspiration from the bespoke #CuratedBy palettes (from £96) of influencers such as Georgia May Jagger and celebrity makeup artist James Molloy. Wake is a young skincare brand designed to solve the problems of a non-stop lifestyle. New from professional hair brand OSMO is X.POSED, a capsule salon range designed for all hair types.  Unlike their usual colourful products, Xposed comprises six black and white products, exposing natural ingredients and innovative formulas.  100% vegan and cruelty-free, the range is formulated with 97% naturally derived ingredients.  It contains colour care complex, is unisex and suitable for all hair types and comes in 50% PCR fully recyclable packaging.

Sculpted by Aimee Connolly has partnered with Terracycle and Hometree to launch its new sustainability initiative ReSculpted, offering customers and the brand a new means of positively contributing to the environment.  Through the ReSculpted programme, customers can easily recycle their empty Sculpted bottles, tubes and palettes.  Return five empty Sculpted products via their paid-for returns service and receive 200 points on your rewards account, equal to £17 product credit on the website.

Alternatively, you can spend a portion of your reward points to plant a tree in collaboration with Hometree, an environmental charity engaged in conservation and afforestation to help strengthen the world’s biodiversity. As part of its sustainability efforts, Sculpted by Aimee have also repackaged its iconic Bronze Base tanning drops (£21) – now housed in a 50ml refillable and fully recyclable bottle

The Hair and Beauty Charity are still working to support those that need their help.  They had over £250,000 donated from professional beauty expert, Caroline Hirons and the Beauty Backed campaign. They have funds available for those people who do need their help; ask them if you need support.

They are a small charity and have to prioritise assistance to those who need it most urgently.  Priority will be given to households where only one adult (working within the industry) provides the only income to the household (e.g. if you live with your partner who will still receive an employed wage, priority will be given to single parent families whose only income is dependent on their hair/beauty industry wage).  Visit their website for more information and to make an application.
