Salon System nail expert Karen Louise has created an abstract cow print step-by-step using the new Gellux Ready to Rock collection.

Karen Louise Gellux

If you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

Prepare the nails, file to shape, push back cuticle and gently buff the nail plate.  Brush away any dust and wipe over with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat).  Apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry.

Apply Gellux Builder Gel in Light Natural (£11.95 +vat) making sure to cap the edges and cure.

Step Two

Using a thin liner brush, apply Gellux Rocker-Bye-Baby (£11.95 +vat) to the outer side of the nail with a swirly detail down the center of the nail. Repeating this process being sure to cure in between coats.

Step Three

Now using your detailing brush or a dotting tool, create your cow print design on top of the half you just painted using Gellux Keep It Real (£11.95 +vat), apply these randomly and do not make the shapes even in size and style.  Cure for 60 seconds.  Apply Gellux Matte Base & Top Coat to the nails and cure.  Wipe with Prep + Wipe then allow to dry before continuing

Step Four

Using Gellux Wow Factor (£11.95 +vat), and a thin liner brush, outline your design and the rest of your nail/negative space then cure.

Step Five

Finally, over the negative space and over the outline only using a detail brush finish with Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) so you have 50/50 Matte and Gloss finish.  Cure for 60 seconds. Wipe the nails with Prep + Wipe and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).

Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
