Easter Egg Basket Nails – Step By Step

April 4th, 2021

April 4th, 2021

For Easter Sunday we share this Easter egg basket design created by Salon System nail expert Julie-Anne Larivière.

She used Gellux, but if you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

File the nails to shape, push the cuticles back with the Gellux Cuticle Handy Manicure Tool (£6.95 +vat) and gently buff the surface of the nails with a white block.

Thoroughly wipe nails with Gellux Nail + File Cleansing Spray (£6.95 +vat) and a lint free pad.  When the nails are dry apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry for 30 seconds.

Then apply one very thin layer of Gellux Cover Pink Base Coat (£11.95 +vat). Cure in between coats for 60 seconds.

Step Two

Using a fine liner brush and Gellux Choco-Latte (£11.95 +vat), create a French tip, do not cure.

Step Three

Dip a liner in Choco-Latte and create curved a line going from one side of the French tip to the other, cure for 30 seconds.

Step Four

For the woven basket effect, dip a super fine dotter into Gellux Black Onyx (£11.95 +vat), and paint small dots in a line at equal distance to one another, do not cure.

Step Five

Then, using a fine liner connect the dots with two curved lines, horizontally then vertically below. Do not cure.

Step Six

Carry on the same pattern until you have covered the whole tip then add small lines on the basket handle with Black Onyx, cure for 30 seconds.

Step Seven

Mix a small amount of Choco-Latte with Black Onyx and paint shading on the woven pattern, cure.

Step Eight

With a nail art brush, paint the eggs in the basket. I’ve used the Gellux colours Shout it Out, Glamping and It’s An Attitude (all £11.95 +vat), cure for 30 seconds.

Step Nine

With a fine liner dipped in Gellux Purely White (£11.95 +vat), add some Easter patterns on the eggs and outline them, cure

Step Ten

Finally, apply Gellux Mirror Glaze Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure again for 60-90 seconds.  Wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat) and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat) to finish your cute Easter nails.

Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
