2021 Trends – Bronde Hair

With the recent publication of the timetable for the country to reopen we know that hairdressers will be closed for a few more weeks yet.  This means we still need to find ingenious ways to deal with root regrowth.  The latest trend for 2021 is a “bronde” colour which is perfect for a low maintenance look and disguising those roots.

Seen on the likes of Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid and mega-babe influencer Matilda Djerf, we speak to a number of hair experts to explain why this trend is so popular and how you can achieve and maintain the look.

Adele Clarke, OSMO Ambassador and owner of  Spectrum Hair, St Helens, says:

The thing I love about the hair times we live in is that trends and popular looks are bending and blending to the current lockdown situation. The beautiful root melts and babylights that our blonde queens have been sporting are, as planned for, morphing into the rooted Bronde trend that we love.  With nourishing and convenient products like OSMO Colour Revive in Warm Chestnut (£8.95), hard line roots can be blended through at home with no risk of chemical damage.  Or simply choose the OSMO Colour Revive in Platinum (£8.95) from the range for some cool TLC and gloss.

Bronde is definitely one of my favourite looks as it can be so easily brightened up and toned down on a whim, with the help of bond protecting OSMO ChromaPlex Bond Shampoo & Conditioner (£8.40 each) for hair health. This gives the guest the opportunity to reinvent themselves on every visit, keeping the prospect of seeing us exciting each time, who doesn’t love that?  I say keep this Bronde journey going for as long as possible. It’s great for both business, clients and our industry all round.

Rachel Burgin, Hair Stylist & Founder of Routes Hair Extensions says:

With salons currently closed, it’s made women opt for lower maintenance styles and colours, so they don’t have to worry about large grown out roots that are very noticeable against their natural colour.

Following the likes of Kim K and Gigi Hadid sporting Bronde locks, it’s no surprise that many blondes are going darker or brunettes going slightly lighter. As visible roots are part of the look, you won’t have to worry about roots or when your next hair appointment might be.

If you need some help creating the bronde look you can always add extensions to your existing hair, for example 20”-22” Russian Clip in hair (from £450) from routes-hair-extensions.

Tracy Hayes Global Colour Ambassador at Fudge Professional, says:

Our customers are adapting their hair colour and embracing more of a natural look due to sporadic visits to their hairdresser over the last year.  We are seeing brighter blondes and customers looking to keeping the colour looking its best at home.  Fudge Professional Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Shampoo & Conditioner (£15 each) will help the blonde look brighter and neutralise any unwanted yellow tones.  We are also seeing honey and caramel blondes giving some natural warmth to the hair as well as promoting fabulous shine and conditioned hair, balayage tones through the ends are definitely looking deeper and warmer blondes rather than a sun kissed effect.

Gold hues are definitely here for spring and, for those sultry brunettes, we can definitely see a shift of the tones appearing slightly softer, to mocha brunettes, rather than deep chocolate tones.  These gentle shifts in colour are enabling our customers to manage their hair a little better without seeing severe re-growth and enjoying highly glossed conditioned hair for this coming Spring.  Brunettes, when going slightly softer, may have a tendency to throw out orange tones after a few washes, so to combat this problem while at home use the Fudge Professional Cool Brunette Shampoo & Conditioner (£15 each), perfect for banishing any unwanted warmth in brunettes.

Available from Fudge Professional Salons, fudgeprofessional, lookfantastic and beautybay.

Frey Necole Creative Director of Zee Elle says:

Bronde is a great transitional colour, especially if you’re moving from a very dark shade to lighter tones, but keen to protect the health of your hair.  Bronde is also a great choice If you’ve never had colour before or don’t want a drastic change.  It gives a subtle, bright, incredibly natural result so it will enhance your look without being too noticeably different.

Women who suit bronde best are usually those with warmer skin tones as it enhances your natural colouring. Brunettes look lifted and blondes can add depth and dimension to their hair, win win!”

Another way to ‘fake it until you make it’ is with a wig.  Try The Best Dressed – Layered Pecan Cream Balayage Wig (£88) from zeeelle.
