Valentine’s Nails #3 Step By Step

February 13th, 2021

The third of our Valentine-inspired nail designs is again by Salon System nail expert Julie-Anne Larivière.  This rainbow heart-themed twist on a classic French manicure is too good to be kept exclusively for Valentine’s Day though.

Julie-Anne Lariviere Salon System

She created this design using Gellux, but if you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Watch the video here or follow the step by step below:

Step One

File the nails to shape, push the cuticles back, trimming excess with the Gellux Cuticle Handy Manicure Tool (£6.95 +vat) and gently buff the surface of the nails with a white block.

Thoroughly wipe nails with Gellux Nail + File Cleansing Spray (£6.95 +vat) and a lint free pad.  When the nails are dry apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry for 30 seconds.

Step Two

Then apply two layers of Gellux Cover Pink Base (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 30 seconds between coats.

Step Three

Use the colours Gellux Devil Red, Boy Trouble, Lemon Ice, Gossip Girl, Beautiful Barcelona and BFF (all £11.95 +vat) to create the rainbow hearts.

Step Four

Dip a small dotting tool into the first colour and start creating the hearts by placing 2 dots side by side, repeat the process with all the rainbow colours along the tip of the nail. Do not cure.

Step Five

With a fine liner, complete the hearts by joining the dots together, repeat again for each heart, and cure for 60 seconds.

Step Six

Finally, apply Gellux Mirror Glaze Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 60 – 90 seconds.  Wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat) and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).

Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
