Industry News

Launched on World Cancer Day (4th Feb), The C-List is a one-stop beauty shop for people with cancer that features over 200 mainstream beauty products that are also cancer-kind.  Most people with cancer have to reinvent their make-up bags and bathroom cabinets to find non-toxic products that are kind to their skin and a time in their lives when they feel lonely, scared and unwell.

The C-List is founded by campaigner and self-described ‘cancer arse-kicker’ Helen Addis, aka @thetittygritty, who has teamed up with make-up artist Lisa Potter Dixon on the project.  Addis was inspired to create The C-List when, faced with her own cancer diagnosis, she couldn’t find anywhere to go for beauty advice.  Brands like bareMinerals, LaRoche-Posay, Weleda and Elemis are featured, with more being added every day.  Alongside product recommendations, beauty tips and a dollop of humour combine to make The C-List is a fun, welcoming place for people with cancer. The models featured on the website have also been touched by cancer and their stories are shared on the website.

It’s a busy month for Salon System who also launched their Nourish Your Mind Campaign 1st February, which runs throughout the month.   The campaign aims to support the beauty industry during lockdown by giving them the tools to create good habits that not only support them now but will continue to support them when business are back (hopefully soon!) and throughout 2021.  Follow @salonsystem on Instagram to catch all the Instagram Lives.  If you miss any you can catch them again on their IG channel.

The Hair and Beauty Charity are still working to support those that need their help.  They have had just over £250,000 donated recently from professional beauty expert, Caroline Hirons and the Beauty Backed campaign. They have funds available for those people who do need their help; ask them if you need support.

They are a small charity and have to prioritise assistance to those who need it most urgently.  Priority will be given to households where only one adult (working within the industry) provides the only income to the household (e.g. if you live with your partner who will still receive an employed wage, priority will be given to single parent families whose only income is dependent on their hair/beauty industry wage).  Visit their website for more information and to make an application.
