Valentine Nails #1 Step By Step

February 10th, 2021

February 10th, 2021

We’re romantics over here at Warpaint, so for the next couple of weeks we shall be sharing Valentine-themed nail designs so you can try them at home.

First up  Salon System nail expert Karen Louise created this heart-inspired design using Gellux. If you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others.  If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.

Step One

File the nails to shape, push the cuticles back with the Gellux Cuticle Handy Manicure Tool (£6.95 +vat) and gently buff the surface of the nails with a white block.  Brush away any dust and wipe over with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat).  When the nails are dry apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry.  Then apply a thin coat of Gellux Builder Gel in Light Pink (£11.95 +vat) and cure for 30 seconds.

 Step Two

Apply a small drop of Gellux Tease Me (£11.95 +vat) to a nail palette.  Then, using a small striper brush, outline the pinkie finger but, only halfway around the nail. Thicken this line and keep it sharp. Flash cure and repeat the same process on the index finger.

Step Three

Repeat the same process to the ring finger but do not go as high up the side of the nail and keep it thinner along the side wall to about halfway.  Flash cure.

Step Four

Now repeat the last step with Gellux Fri-Yay, Gellux Too Hot Tahiti (both £11.95 +vat) and Gellux Piggy Pink (£7.25 +vat) up one side of the nail on the ring finger and cure for 60 seconds.

Step Five

Next, using your small detailing brush, mirror the colours but create your half heart shape on the clear side of the design on your ring finger. Cure for 60 seconds.

Step Six

On the middle finger, using Piggy Pink create a small French tip extending it slightly more down the side of the nails. Cure for 30 seconds.

Step Seven

On the thumb nail, using Fri-Yay create a thin French Tip and cure for 30 seconds.

Step Eight

Finally, apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) over the grid to give a slightly raised look.   Cure for 60 seconds.  Wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).

Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
