Maiiro, the sustainable organic skincare brand founded just 14 months ago by 57-year-old former accountant Katy Rowe, has already started winning awards.  Along with producing natural, skin-healing products, Katy has also launched her own anti-plastic packaging campaign – Pack of Lies.  Inspired by the shorelines in her hometown of Guernsey, Katy formulated her own signature potent blend of 5 types of seaweed, chosen for their powerful ability to heal skin.  Katy has launched just four products; Organic Seaweed Soap (£11.95) (loved during the pandemic for natural antiviral & antibacterial ingredients), Anti-Blemish Cream (£65), Anti-Ageing Cream (£85) and Organic Lip Salve (£21.95).  Available from maiiro.

The No1 Illume Exfoliating Glove (£15.99) is another product launched by a former accountant.  Louise Wilkins was tired of not finding a gentle exfoliant for her dry skin, so created her own product based on the results of Turkish Hammam baths.  This 100% woven silk viscose glove will exfoliate, purify and energise skin.  It can brighten dull dry skin, remove fake tan, prevent ingrowing hairs and improve the appearance of scars, stretchmarks and cellulite.  Hand made in Turkey using traditional methods, it is packaged in the UK in recyclable letterbox boxes.  Available from no1illume.

The Hair and Beauty Charity are still working to support those that need their help.  They have had just over £250,000 donated recently from professional beauty expert, Caroline Hirons and the Beauty Backed campaign. They have funds available for those people who do need their help; ask them if you need support.

They are a small charity and have to prioritise assistance to those who need it most urgently.  Priority will be given to households where only one adult (working within the industry) provides the only income to the household (e.g. if you live with your partner who will still receive an employed wage, priority will be given to single parent families whose only income is dependent on their hair/beauty industry wage).  Visit their website for more information and to make an application.
