Banish the hump day lockdown blues with a fabulous nail design. Salon System nail expert Karen Louise created this abstract sparkly design using the new Gellux Star Attraction Collection, but if you don’t have Gellux products to hand then you can substitute them for others. If you are using non-gel polish, remember to use a good base coat and to let each coat set fully before moving on to the next step.
File the nails to shape, push the cuticles back with the Gellux Cuticle Handy Manicure Tool (£6.95 +vat) and gently buff the surface of the nails with a white block. Brush away any dust and wipe over with Gellux Prep + Wipe (£7.10 +vat). When the nails are dry apply Gellux Fast Bond (£5.85 +vat) and let dry. Then apply a thin coat of Gellux Easy Off Base Coat (£11.95 +vat) and cure.
On the index and middle fingers apply a thin coat of Gellux Spotlight (£11.95 +vat), then to the remaining three nails apply Gellux Bright Lights (£11.95 +vat) and cure. Repeat this for the second coat, making sure to cap the edges and cure for 30 seconds.
Now, using Gellux Fabulous Darling (£11.95 +vat) drop a small amount onto a nail art palette. With a thin detailing brush, create your swirly design over the index and middle fingers and then fill it in and cure for 30 seconds.
On the ring finger create the same design as the middle except this time do not fill in in-between, so it is just the outline using Gellux Fabulous Darling. Then, do the same for the pinky finger and match it to the index finger.
Next, on the thumb create an outline and fill it in, cure for 60 seconds.
Finally, apply Gellux Shiny Top Coat (£11.95 +vat) making sure to cap the free edge and cure for 60 – 90 seconds. Next wipe the nails with Gellux Prep + Wipe and apply Gellux Nail & Cuticle Oil (£4.35 +vat).
Salon System Gellux is available from wholesalers nationwide.
