As the festive season is fast approaching and calendars are filling up with Zoom and (for the lucky ones) actual meet ups, we asked International make-up artist Jen Gooding to share some tips for fun festive make-up.  Here are some looks to experiment with no matter what your plans may be!

Jen believes this season is all about vibrant colours, chrome liquid lids and cosmic 90’s rhinestone gems.  Even if your usual festive plans have gone out the window, with these winter 2020 makeup trends you’ll look and feel your very best.

With many of us wearing face coverings, thats even more reason to accentuate your eyes and have a bit of fun as we welcome in the new year.

Gilded Eyes

There are so many brands releasing Multichrome liquid eyeshadows right now which are super easy to apply and really elevate your eye look.  Apply in the centre of the lid and blend out, it creates the illusion of an expertly applied, multi- layered eye makeup with amazing chrome effect.

Rhinestone Gems

If you really want to make an impression this season, why not bedazzle your look by adding rhinestone gems.  The jewels come in the form of stickers which are glued to either the top of the eyelid above the lash line or at the corners of the eye.  They come in a wide range of colours, shapes, and sizes- so it is important to find the gem trend that works for you.

Another way you can ease into the rhinestone make-up trend is by simply dotting your cat eye with a gem.  Strategically place a rhinestone or two at the end of your eyeliner wings to give your look a fun yet subtle touch. It’s undeniably simpler yet it still gives a touch of drama.

Two Tone Eyes

If one bright eyeshadow wasn’t enough, upgrade this look with a bright liner to really make an impact on this statement eye look.  The beauty of it is you can add any colour you want that’s unique to you.  I recommend using opposing colours on the spectrum, for example if you picture a colour wheel… and you choose an orange toned eyeshadow, then combining a blue colour is going to make the biggest impact.  Try a green liner with a purple shadow and so on. I love the NYX Vivid Brights Liner.

Structured Brows and a Bold Lip

A bold lip has always been the best way to make a statement with your makeup look, try a classic red, burgundy or even a bright purple. I love the Fenty Lip Paints which will not budge all night, even after plenty of sips of your cocktails.

With a statement lip you won’t need much else except a structured brow to keep the look modern and fresh. Try the Refy Beauty Brow Kit to really step up your Brow game.  The founder Jess Hunt has made a 3-step process to make it super easy to achieve the structured full brows that she is known for.

The Bold Cat Eye

Forget the feline flick, this year is about adding drama to your look so try a bold cat eye. With a black kohl pencil line the bottom and top lash line, bring the liner into the inner and outer corners of the eye then blend out on the top lid to create a wing effect, if you have a steady hand then apply the wing with a black gel liner for a sharper flick.  Finish the look with a good layer of mascara on the top and bottom lashes. If you’re feeling playful then try this look with a brighter coloured liner.
