Aldi is about to launch three new luxury Velvet Eyeshadow Palettes (£5.99 each) into its Lacura makeup range.  The Revival palette is all about pastel pinks; Desert Rain has soft tones and Moonshine features pops of celestial colour.  They are similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes; however they are limited edition.  Containing 14 shades in each, with a mirror and dual-ended brush included.  Available online at aldi from 20th September and in store from 27th September.


Barry M have added two new shades to their Tinted That’s Swell XXL (£4.99) range. Industry News

Pinewood-based Iver Make-up Academy (IMA) are hosting a virtual open day on Saturday 26th September for prospective students.  Their virtual doors will open from 10:30am to 1pm for anyone with an interest in joining the exciting world of makeup, hair and special effects for film and TV

Throughout the event, candidates will meet the IMA team, watch live demonstrations, and participate in Q&A’s with IMA tutors.  They will also be given an insight into the courses available at the Academy.  These range from a two-day Taster Course to a 30-week Advanced Make-Up and Hair Artistry Course.  IMA is accredited by ScreenSkills with bursaries of up to £10,000 available to students. The full schedule for the Virtual Open Day is available via the Open Day website and you can register your attendance via Eventbrite.


Screen Skills bursaries are available for Advanced shorter courses running at the highly regarded Delamar Academy in 2021.  The bursary will cover some to all of the course fees, creating greater opportunity for artists developing their skills and therefore their career.  To apply, you must go directly through Screen Skills.  To be eligible for one of the Advanced courses you must have either had previous training in the subject area or demonstrate knowledge and technical skill to a certain standard.  Each candidate’s skill level will be assessed.  Check the academy’s website for course dates here or call/email them to confirm.


Must-have British beauty brand Iconic London launched into select Boots stores nationwide and at this week.  Renowned worldwide for on-trend make up at an affordable price, they are also a celebrity favourite, with Beyonce, Ariana Grande and the Kardashians seen wearing their products.  A selection of the range is available online at, customers can shop online and collect their purchases from their nearest store the next day.  Iconic London will be launching into select stores across the UK from the end of September.


Hollywood favourite brand Nurse Jamie will be soon available at H-Beauty.  H beauty is Harrods first standalone beauty concept and houses the best in beauty from around the globe.  It is set to open its first location in this month in Lakeside, Essex, to then be closely followed by a second location in Milton Keynes.  H beauty will combine Harrods famous experiential beauty retail environment with a diverse portfolio of premium and luxury brands, to bring something entirely new to the UK’s beauty retail industry.

H beauty will stock a curated selection of Nurse Jamie’s famous skincare, tools and supplements, including her iconic Uplift Tool, Beauty Bear Pillow and the brand-new Beauty Blade. The store will also be the first physical space in the UK to stock her new adaptogen supplements.  Jamie Sherril is famous for the Netflix show Skin Decisions, celebrity Red Carpet facials and her transformative at-home skincare tools and creams featuring scientifically proven cutting-edge ingredients.  Nurse Jamie also works with celebrities such as Emily Ratajkowski, Jessica Alba, Reese Witherspoon, Lea Michele, Ashley Tisdale and Jonathan Van Ness.


Cosmetify have revealed the most influential beauty brands, based on their following on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.   Huda Beauty comes out on top, with a combined following of over 53 million.  Kylie Cosmetics is second with 26.7m and MAC third with 24m.  Other brands in the top ten include Anastasia Beverly Hills, NYX, Too Faced, Morphe, Fenty, Urban Decay and Tarte.

Huda have almost double the following of its closest competitor, and both these brands were created less than 10 years ago; and incredible achievement.  Additionally, half of the brands in the top ten are female-owned.
