Balance and protect your skin with Algenist’s colour-changing ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask (£38) and Prebiotic Balancing Moisturizer SPF 15 (£40).  The ultimate detoxing duo that balances your skin’s natural microbiome.  Algenist has derived a prebiotic from algae to create the ultimate superfood that feeds the good stuff that lives on the skin’s surface, from the outside in.  Helping to re-establish the balance of your skin’s surface ecosystem, providing a source of nutrition and energy, while neutralizing the effects of lifestyle aggressors that visibly age skin faster.  The ALIVE Prebiotic Balancing Mask is a transformative mask that balances, detoxifies and boosts radiance for a healthy, glowing complexion.  It targets unique skin concerns that may result from unbalanced surface skin bacteria offering visible results after one use.

Filorga have launched Optim-Eyes [Refresh] (£25) a cooling stick to eliminate signs of fatigue in the eye area.  Skin in this area is more vulnerable and starts to become depleted of its tissue components, which leads to fine lines and dehydration wrinkles.  The stick can be used on the go when your eyes start to show the slightest sign of fatigue. Its frosted texture decongests the eye contour in an instant, while its active ingredients penetrate deep inside the skin for a long-lasting ultra-revitalising action.   Their best-selling Optim-Eyes Contour Cream (£25) has also had a new boosted formula.  In addition to its unique core formula, it contains a completely new complex: melaton-eyes technology which enhances its action on signs of skin fatigue.  Both available from mid-May from lookfantastic and beautyexpert.

A recent study by Avon scientists discovered CBD’s direct link to anti-ageing, a first in the industry.  While it’s long been believed that that CBD might have age-defying properties, there has been limited scientific evidence to prove how it is beneficial in anti-ageing to date.  Avon scientists have discovered that CBD can boost levels of HSPs (Heat Shock Proteins, a type of molecular chaperone which protects skin from stress) in skin cells indicating that, when included in topical skincare, CBD can work as an anti-ageing ingredient.  This is the first time anyone has been able to find the missing link between CBD and its anti-ageing efficacy.

Guild Training International (GTi) have launched a COVID-19 Infection Prevention & Control Course specifically for owners of beauty, nail, holistic and hair salons, including home-based and mobile therapists. I t explains what COVID-19 is, how it is spread and what practical steps therapists can take to keep themselves and their clients safe when they are allowed to re-open. The course takes hair and beauty business owners through a checklist of the things they need to consider and the possible changes they will need to implement prior to re-opening to the public. You may not be aware of the blue beauty movement – it questions what we wash down our drains and what washes up on our shores.  Blue beauty supports ocean conservation by using reef safe ingredients and moving towards zero-waste, virtually plastic free packaging.

Present in most sheer sunscreens are oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are shown not only to cause biochemical or cellular level changes and endocrine disruption in humans, but are responsible for killing 10% of the world’s coral reefs, leading to bleaching, DNA damage and death of the corals.  With no added oxybenzone or octinoxate, Soleil Toujours Sunscreens are safe not only for our bodies but for our environment.

Soleil Toujours have developed sustainable product packaging using bio-plastic tubes made from sugarcane, with the goal of having 100% sustainable packaging this year.  New technology processes sugarcane, creating a renewable plastic that is not derived from petroleum, a fossil fuel.
