If you don’t have eyebrows, you don’t really have a face

Even though we appreciate brows every day we now have a whole day dedicated to them!  The 9th April is the official National Eyebrow Day.  Whether your client is an arched lover or a natural brow enthusiast, all brows are shown love on this day.

We look at the top places to have your brows done, and also step you through two brow looks with a RefectoCil brow expert.

Once lockdown is lifted we will be rushing to have our unruly brows dealt with.  Where to go?  Here are some suggestions:

Suman Atelier known as The Queen of Brows, Suman Jalaf works magic on the eyebrows of London’s elite, with her expert mastery of threading, tinting and microblading.  She has created her own destination for beauty in Kensington, offering all kinds of treatments.  Try the signature brow shape and tint.

Blink Brow Bar were the first to make threading accessible to us Brits.  It’s an accurate and precise way to remove the tiny brow hairs to make a shape that is wow and balances your face shape.  The right lift under the brow arch lifts the eyes and is an immediate anti-ageing boost.  Almost a mini-face lift in around 15 minutes.  With stores across the UK you can also stock up on their products as well as having a brow treatment.

Nails and Brows founder Sherrille Riley is known for looking after the perfectly-groomed brows of the Duchess of Sussex.  Treatments start at £32; the Audrey Brow – worn by Meghan Markle herself – costs £53 and gives an effortless, natural look.   The Brow Makeover (£56) includes a consultation, reshape and tidy plus a masterclass on how to style your brows with the correct products.

Browhaus is a laidback, stylish place which aims to allay any fears you may have on having your brows shaped and tinted (from £25).  They also offer a Brow Resurrection service which creates realistic hair strands to give you perfect brows.  Using advanced embroidery techniques to create natural-looking strokes, this gives a finer finish compared to other semi-permanent treatments that simply weave in parallel hair strands.

Brow Bar London have a number of salons across the capital, offering a range of beauty services including brows.   Their eyebrow shaping techniques are personalised to your needs, making it simple to achieve full, defined arched eyebrows that suit you.  With tinting, waxing and threading starting at £21 they also offer lamination and botox treatments from £150.

Ruth Atkins, Brow Expert and Salon System Educator comments:

Brows are the most important feature on your face as they frame the face and draw focus to the eyes. With the RefectoCil customisable colours you can create a unique colour for your clients which will emphasise length, shape, fullness, and tone of the brows.

Read on for a step by step of how to create both a Blonde Brow and a Red Brown Brow

Blonde Brow

To create a white bleached brow, mix the RefectoCil Blonde Brow Bleaching Paste (£5.05) with about 35 drops of RefectoCil Oxidant Cream 3% (£5.55) (do not use liquid).

Mix together until it’s a creamy paste. If it’s still crunchy and frosty add a few more drops of the RefectoCil Oxidant Cream 3% and mix thoroughly until you get a glossy smooth mixture.

Outline the brow with RefectoCil Skin Protection Cream (£6.85).

With the client’s eyes closed for safety, using the applicator, apply the tint to the brow hair and make sure the under hairs are also coated.

Keep your eye on the tint by checking every 3/4 minutes.

Remove when the correct shade is achieved and clean thoroughly.

For naturally dark hair colours the tint can be left for 20 minutes. If the quality of the brow hair is good you can leave for longer, but you need to be careful you don’t over process or cause damage.

If the brows contain a lot of natural red pigments, colour wash afterwards with a tiny amount of RefectoCil Graphite tint. Don’t leave on long (literally on and off) and don’t mix it with peroxide as you don’t want it dark.  The hair cuticles are still open, but you don’t want the hair to take in colour just tone.  This in effect is acting to counteract the red tones so the client’s not left with orange brows.

Condition brows to finish and repeat every 4 – 5 weeks.

Red Brown Brow

To create a luscious reddy brown brow mix equal parts of RefectoCil Chestnut tint (£4.95) with RefectoCil Oxidant Liquid 3% (£5.55) or Oxidant Cream 3% (£6.35).

Outline the brow with RefectoCil Skin Protection Cream.

With the client’s eyes closed for safety, using the applicator, apply the tint to the brow hair and make sure the under hairs are also coated.

Keep your eye on the tint by checking every 3/4 minutes and leave on for 20 minutes.

Remove with RefectoCil Tint Remover (£10.10) when the correct shade is achieved and clean thoroughly.

Condition brows to finish and repeat every 3-4 weeks as red tones seem to fade quicker.
