The NHS needs safety equipment such as masks, gloves and hand sanitiser.  Schools, colleges, universities and businesses may have stocks that they can’t use during the shutdown.  If you have anything you could donate please contact Norman Tenray on 07775 621005 or norman@obas.com and he can co-ordinate this.  You may already have seen his efforts featured on BBC north west news.

Industry news

Due to the growing situation in the UK, the Hair and Beauty Charity is already seeing a huge increase in phone calls and requests for help from hair and beauty hair professionals.  They will give priority to households where only one adult (working within the industry) provides the only income to the household (e.g. if you live with your partner who will still receive an ‘employed wage’, priority will be given to single parent families whose only income is dependent on their hair/beauty industry wage).  Their usual eligibility criteria apply and you can find this and their full statement on the current situation here.

It is most definitely going to be tough for our industry, as a charity they will need urgent help to raise even more funds to help those who will need it most in the coming months.  If there’s any way you can support the charity financially please consider donating, the easiest way is via their justgiving page.
