If you thought that Watford was known only for Leavesden Studios and the Watford Gap service station, think again. It’s also home to the West Herts College whose students invited our editor to help judge their end of year makeup competition. Warpaint headed round the M25 to spend the day at Spice Girl Geri Halliwell’s alma mater.
The College
Tracing its origins back to 1947, the present day college was founded in 1991 and occupies three sites at Watford, Dacorum and Kings Langley. With courses ranging from Level 2 and HNCs to HNDs and Foundation degrees, its justifiably particularly proud of its creative industries.
The Competition
Students from Level 2 and Level 3 competed against each other in three categories: character makeup, fantasy and beauty special occasion, and had two hours to complete their individual looks.
Next came the judging when students presented their models and talked through their inspirations and processes.
Finally they headed to the college theatre for a runway show to showcase their creations.
Well done to all the winners and the first place in each category win a place in the Warpaint London Championship 2020.
