Hot off this week’s news – The British Beauty Council has been established by five respected industry advocates: Jane Boardman, Chairman; Millie Kendall MBE, CEO; Catherine Handcock, Development Director; Kate Shapland, Content Director; and Anna-Marie Solowij, who sits on the Advisory board alongside other industry changemakers including the CEO of British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush.  Gemma Bellman has also recently joined the Executive board as COO.  The aim of the BBC is to develop the reputation, innovation, and education of British beauty both domestically and globally.  In its first year, the BBC will commission a report into the size and impact of the beauty industry on the British economy, enabling progression in the future.  They will also focus on representing the specific needs and voices of the beauty industry – an industry that is worth nearly £18 billion.  A number of established beauty brands have already signed up, and recognise the importance of giving the British beauty industry the reputation it deserves.  Sign up to the British Beauty Council here.

Handcrafted in Hertfordshire, Evolve Beauty is the epitome of artisanal.  Hand making the products ensures that the antioxidants in the natural oils, butters, and extracts used are perfectly fresh and optimised for use.  Their philosophy is one that encourages us to harness the power of the natural world – especially as it’s better for us and our planet – and founder Laura strongly believes in ‘green science’ – the idea that natural skincare can be just as effective as synthetic products.  This care for the earth is reflected in every facet of the company: the packaging is made from recyclable glass, card and 75% recycled plastic; the products themselves are 100% vegan and the ingredients are 100% cruelty free; and they buy natural, organic ingredients from as close to home as possible, from fair-trade, sustainable sources – talk about farm to face!  That caring nature doesn’t end there: their Age Smarter 360 concept works proactively to support the body at every stage of life, as evidenced by their two new products.  The Superfood 360 Serum (£16) can be used on all skin types at any age, and is chock full of effective natural superfoods which protect skin whilst improving skin tone, wrinkle depth, and texture, and enhancing skin’s natural radiance and luminosity.  The Sacha Inchi peptides – an ancient Peruvian superfood – help to improve skin’s firmness, reduce wrinkle volume, and smooth the skin by improving the dermal density.  Meanwhile, Peruvian maca stimulates cellular renewal, leaving skin glowing and healthy.  Cacay oil and hyaluronic acid work together to lock in moisture, leaving you protected and your skin supported all day.  If you’re worried about dry skin, top this silky serum with the new Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream (£18) – the anti-ageing cream is packed with superfoods and green ingredients to deliver concentrated anti-ageing benefits as well as a surge of intense hydration that works particularly well for normal to dry skin.  Sacha Inchi peptides make another appearance, as well as coconut peptides – which rejuvenate, moisturise, and smooth skin – and prickly pear elixir, which calms irritated skin whilst hydrating.  Native to the Amazon rainforest, Cupuacu – a relative of the cacao plant – is transformed into a luxurious butter that’s packed with phytosterols to support collagen and elasticity in skin, as well as maintaining the skin barrier to improve hydration.  If you’ve been looking for some amazing all-natural all rounder products, I think you’ve found them!  Both are available now at www.evolvebeauty.co.uk.

Iconic British makeup brand Illamasqua is celebrating their ten year anniversary, and inviting all of us to join them with their limited edition Reign of Rock collection for eyes, lips, and face.  Inspired by the rebel attitude of rock music, it reflects Illamasqua’s unconventional stance within the industry.  The campaign shoot features Amelia Windsor, who has been transformed in her first ever beauty contract by Pablo Rodriguez, Illamasqua’s Director of Artistry, using the collection.   Kicking off the line up are some limited edition Antimatter Lipsticks (£20), known for their long-wearing, rich pigment and unique semi-satin, semi-matte texture: BTCH, Bang, and Midnight are all available in limited edition silver gradient packaging, and there are two brand new shades – Orion, a powerful black, and Storm, a sultry silver.  Next, Illamasqua’s emblematic baked Beyond Powder (£34) has been reimagined in two gorgeous new shades: Frost offers a strobe-like, ethereal radiance that makes skin glow from within, while Electric adds a touch of ultraviolet, inspired by the pantone colour of the year.  Both add a subtle, healthy glow to skin, effortlessly enhancing features and making skin glow, but these versatile powders can also be used to create intense metallic pigments for long-wearing eyeshadow.  If you’re after more colour options, try out the Iconic Chromes (£22), cream-to-powder formulas which were created for use on either lips or eyes.  The unique, buildable formula adapts to both subtle and high-impact looks, and is available in five colours: Audacious, Inspiring, Avant-Garde, Passionate, and Empowering. For glitter, reach for the Jewel Vinyls (£15) – face and body glitters intended to inspire experimentation. The high pigment glitter instantly adheres to the skin, and is available in six stunning shades: Blondie (gold), Bowie (oil slick), Stardust (dark rainbow), Wizzard (silver), Heavy Metal (gunmetal), and Roxy (red).  Last but certainly not least, Illamasqua unveils two new palettes: The Elemental Palette (£38) comes with twelvy earthy, highly-pigmented shades, while The Experimental Palette (£38) features a full colour wheel of primary, secondary, and tertiary tones – it’s absolutely ideal for anyone wanting to challenge conventional ideas of beauty.  We can’t wait to get our hands on them!  The collection will be available from October 10th from Illamasqua.

We all know that the delicate area around our eyes is particularly susceptible to irritating ingredients and a hard day – and they’re also one of the first areas of the body to show dehydration.  Combined with modern pressures, from diet to pollution to hormone changes, our eyes are in need of a little TLC: introducing La Roche-Posay’s HYALU B5 Eyes (£25.50), a new anti-wrinkle formula specifically designed for sensitive skin.  The cream targets signs of ageing and tiredness around the eyes, plumping and repairing skin as it goes.  Eyes appear fresher instantly, and fine lines are visibly reduced. Hyaluronic acid hydrates whilst Vitamin B5 repairs, and La Roche-Posay’s signature Thermal Spring Water provides instant relief to the area, and is clinically proven to soothe sensitive skin.  Meanwhile, mineral pigments provide an instant flawless base for makeup.  This addition to the range can be used alongside the award-winning HYALU B5 Serum to promote a plump, healthy looking complexion.  Both are available from Boots, FeelUnique, Escentual, and independent pharmacies.

We know we’ve mentioned natural brand S5 Skincare before, but we couldn’t resist reminding you about them, as they launched earlier this week.  Billed as intelligent organic skincare for modern living, the brand aims to tackle the specific skin issues associated with our modern way of life, from pollution to the light from our screens.  Gathering a range of bioactives from the most extreme climates on earth – because if they survive there then there has to be something special about them – the team pack them into intensely nourishing, problem-solving formulas.  The sister company to Evolve, S5 Skincare are also made in small batches in Hertfordshire, and Laura and her team are determined that only the best ingredients make it into each product: every product is free from parabens, ethoxylated ingredients, SLS/SLES, Glycols, Phenoxyethanol, and petrochemical derived ingredients.  They also minimise potential allergens wherever possible, meaning your sensitive skin won’t play up.  All the ingredients are vegan and natural, and organic wherever possible.  Where Evolve is the brand for one-product-fits-all, S5 Skincare targets specific concerns. Dry skin?  Try their Replenish Serum (£52) or Restore Cream (£46), or combine the two for incredible results.  For oily or combination skin, try the Neutralise Cleanser (£24), or the Balance Fluid (£46).  Blemishes?  Go for Purity Serum (£48). If you have a range of skincare concerns, mix and match.  Personally, we’re tempted to buy one of everything – just in case our skin ever plays up!  Their gorgeous Calm Serum, targeting sensitive skin and redness, has already sold out, so be quick!  The range is designed around the core serums, but there are cleansers and moisturisers too, to complete your routine. The entire range is available at www.s5skincare.com.
