We love Autumn at Warpaint Towers – crisp, sunny mornings, great new shows on TV, and we’re counting down the days until the Warpaint Championships kick off again. Earlier this summer we got together with our hugely talented Warpaint Judges for a couple of Play Days of creativity – something we don’t do often enough.
Kindly hosted by the Norwich School of Beauty, judges Jennie Roberts, Cat Finlayson, Angela Youngs, Hannah Wing and Yasmin Heinz all headed east for a day of fun. Each of the judges did their own take on the themes of this season’s Championships and we think you’ll enjoy the results.
Warpaintopia Head Judge, Jennie Roberts, opted for the Four Elements theme and added a very personal twist, painting on model Charlotte a hillside scene from her farming childhood in Dorset. students Charley Easter and Ellie Challis, painting together for the first time, tagteamed the Earth, Wind, Fire and Water on model Laura.
Always thinking outside the box, Angela Youngs took the Day of the Day theme from the Dublin Champsionships painting model Rosie Lee. Bodypainter Cat Finlayson with model Ellis Rose opted for a Christmas Movie with a difference – bringing to life Krampus from the 2015 dark, fantasy, comedy, horror film based on the eponymous character from Austro-Bavarian folklore.
The Flora and Fauna theme was the inspiration for Hannah Wing who, with model Ellie Mae, brought the colours and textures of the garden. Yasmin Heinz’s pared back looks on model Ginger Natalie belie her fashion credentials.
Thanks to the team at Smashbox for their stunning space, judges Armand Beasley and Maria Malone-Guerbaa ramped up the inspiration with a day in the studio. Maria’s Cyberpunk skull takes the theme to another level, while Armand’s Classic Beauty Icon bring Grace Jones bursting into life with a little help from model Conor.
