There is just over a month to go till we head down to Professional Beauty London for the first Warpaint Championships of the year. As it is Professional Beauty’s 30th anniversary, we cannot wait to see all the fantastic 1980’s themes play out in the different categories. Let’s meet the people with the tough job of judging all the entries.
Our first judge is the lovely Michelle Court. Michelle is an international make-up artist and the founder of Court-on-Camera Creatives. She has been in the industry for over a decade and within the last few years has been a key ingredient in the production side of shoots. Throughout this time she has met some fantastic creatives along the way, including photographers, stylists, MUAs, hairstylists and models. Michelle had been keeping her eyes open for the best in the business and three years ago decided to set up her very own agency, for clients to visit, browse and choose from the elite selection of Creatives on her books. Michelle is also an expert in Airbrush make-up too, having created flawless make-up around the globe on models, celebrity clients and for body art shoots. Michelle also holds Court-On-Courses, doing one to one training and master classes in studio and around England at colleges and universities, teaching her skills within this specialist art! Michelle will be judging Runway.
Yasmin Heinz is revered by the global pioneers in the beauty and fashion industries. Her unique sensibilty is inspired by the creative spirit of London, the place she calls home. Personally, she was greatly influenced by Picasso, another hero of Yasmin is Cristo which one can see in her extraordinary work. Some of the brands that Yasmin has collobarated on the international stage include Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior and Vivienne Westwood. She has also worked with supermodels Alex Wek, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Elle McPherson. Her work has also graced the pages of Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and Vanity Fair among many publications. Yasmin has also published her first English book: Elements – The Art Of Makeup. Yasmin will be judging Runway.
Mike is the Company Director of Rogue Creations SFX who provide all manner of Special Effects for the film, TV, commercial and theatre industry. Mike himself has worked on a variety of blockbusters and features over the years for some of the top effect companies in the UK. As a freelancer, Mike has worked on ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, ‘Casino Royale’, ‘V For Vendetta’, ‘The Descent’ and ‘Evil Aliens’. Mike also teaches and demonstrates SFX in a variety of colleges and schools across the UK. Mike will be judging Film & TV.
With a background in Fine Art, Maria trained at CMBA before working in film, TV and theatre, until a chance request to help with facepainting at her kids’ schools and she fell in love with the new canvas. The rest, as they say, is history – and her 200k Instagram followers can’t get enough of her work. With a global reach, Maria’s a regular in the media, juggling demoing and teaching with collaborations with many cosmetic companies. Maria will be judging Film & TV.
Our favourite bodypainting judges Jennie Roberts and Cat Finlayson are back, bringing their extensive knowledge to the table. The founders of bodypainting festival Paintopia and collaborators with us in Warpaintopia, they have worked on a huge array of projects and are extremely knowledgeable about the latest products and techniques.
Armand Beasley is back again to judge our Real Beauty competition, an in-demand celebrity make-up artist who has worked with superstars Goldie Hawn, Natasha Hamilton and Michelle Keegan. We’ve worked with Armand many times and have witnessed first-hand his professionalism, great advice and stunning creations. He’ll be looking for a professional and stylish look to cover the typical work day, followed by a sultry evening look with the help of only a couple of products. There’s real versatility to be shown here, and Armand has a great track record of picking winners – previous category winner from 2016, Alice Rouillon has gone on to assist him at numerous glamorous events. Armand will be judging Real Beauty.
Hannah Wing, with her background in performing arts, has many years of experience working within film and TV, commercials and with corporate clients. Hannah also regularly styles and manages costume and wardrobe design. Her work has included a wide variety of hair and make-up designs incorporating SFX, barbering and wigs. Hannah will be judging Real Beauty.
