Welcome to the new look #InstaWarpaint category. Embrace your video skills and create a stunning look – upload your 10 second tutorial by 12th October and you’re in with a chance to compete at the Warpaint Championships at Professional Beauty North on Monday 23rd October. The top entrants will battle it out on the competition floor in front of judges, Maria Malone-Guerbaa and Jo Peters, to be in with chance to win £100 cash prize and product from our category sponsor.
Alongside the revamped entry method, we’re thrilled to announce the first of our sponsors of the Warpaint North Championships – Nanshy sponsoring the #InstaWarpaint category. Up for grabs for first pro and student winners is The Necessities Collection, second place pros and students will received Gobsmack Set while and third place students and pros will receive the Eye Set.
Your theme is The Sun and The Moon. With inspiration from the celestial bodies that rule our world, use your imagination and creativity to produce cover-worthy shots. You’ll be marked on creativity of look, make-up artistry, interpretation of theme and quality of video or images.
Our Judges are Maria Malone-Guerbaa and Jo Peters. With a background in Fine Art, Maria trained at CMBA before working in film, TV and theatre, until a chance request to help with facepainting at her kids’ schools and she fell in love with the new canvas. The rest, as they say, is history – and her 200k Instagram followers can’t get enough of her work. With a global reach, Maria’s a regular in the media, juggling demoing and teaching with collaborations with many cosmetic companies. Maria Malone-Guerbaa
Bristol-based pro make-up artist, Jo has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. Although she specialises in fashion, bridal and beauty, she’s a keen all-rounder with qualifications in theatre and SFX make-up. Jo is also a qualified lecturer and teaches Media Make-up at City of Bristol College, as well as fashion and beauty courses at Bristol Beauty School. She’s a freelance make-up artist with a flair for bodypainting, in particular her baby bump art, and is a self-confessed make-up addict. Keep in touch with Jo on Instagram joannadelilah-makeup.

- Post your 10-second tutorial video, Flipagram or Instagram Story and tag #InstaWarpaint #PBNorth @Warpaint_Mag and @Pro_Beauty01The finalists will be notified by 19th October 2017. Finalists will be sent a link to register for their free ticket to Professional Beauty North. Registration must be completed by 10am on Friday 20th October 2017 in order to compete.
- Finalists will compete in the Warpaint Championships on Monday 23rd October, recreating their look live on the competition floor to be crowned Winner of #InstaWarpaint North 2017.
- The winner receives a goodie bag of products worth £250 including product from must-have brush brand, Nanshy. They and their winning entry will be featured in Warpaint Magazine and on the social media channels of Warpaint Mag and Professional Beauty.
Terms and Conditions
Entry is open to UK and ROI residents aged 16+ only.
Entrants must have a public Instagram to enter.
Entries open at 20:00 on 1st August 2017 and close at 23:59 on 12th October 2017.
Only one valid entry per person is permitted.
No music can be used for your entry.
Entries must be original and not copied from another source.
Employees of Warpaint Magazine, Trades Exhibitions Ltd and M Squared Media or their immediate families are not permitted to enter.
You must have a public Instagram account for us to see your entry.
The finals are held on Monday 23rd October 2017 at Manchester Central and you must be able to attend to compete.
