Education and qualifications within the hair and beauty sector is of high importance, especially with the growth of new techniques across the industry. On 19th July, qualifications organisations VTCT and The Hair and Barber Council gathered together leaders in the hair and beauty sector alongside UK politicians to launch its 2017 Skills Foresight and the case for Mandatory Registration reports in Westminster. Presented by John McNally MP, who is a barber by trade, and emphasising that more needs to be done by the Government to recognise the value and diversity of the hair and beauty industry as a chosen career path, the Report provides insight into the changing skills landscape within the sector and identifies how the Government can meet any challenges and ensure high standards of training and qualifications, vital to any career sector. In his speech, Mr McNally stated that, “The Skills Insight Report makes a strong case for the accreditation of training providers and updating regulation to reflect the changing nature of the sector – a case that I strongly support and will do my best to ensure happens during my time in Parliament.” The full report can be accessed on the VTCT website.
