The Make Up and Body Art Expo held on 12th August in Manchester is a vibrant celebration of make-up, artistry and advice within the industry. Held in the stunning Bridgewater Hall, this event will be an opportunity for established artists, newcomers to the industry and all those who are passionate about make-up to come together. With demonstrations, products, industry experts this will be an event that exhibits the diversity of the make-up industry as well as a networking opportunity for those who feel make up is a career for them. In attendance will be Shaune Harrison Academy, Treasure House of Makeup, Brush Belt Co, Accrington and Rossendale College, Jane Hatton, Patrick Baston and more to be confirmed.
Two open competitions will be held: A drag/gender fluid inspired Get Your Drag On and a bodyart piece entitled It’s NOT So Grim Up North. Judges attending are Melanie Doyle of Mel Vic Academy and Maria Malone-Guerbaa. Competitors and models to be over 18. On 4th July, make-up artist Attracta Courtney held her inaugural Attracta Beauty Skincare & Makeup Awards at The Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge. As these are the only make-up artist beauty awards, all the winners are in a special elite group of beauty brands who have been given the seal of approval by one of the leading artists in the industry. 265 products entered and there 60 worthy winners in luxury and affordable brands. Having been in the business for over 20 years, Attracta believes that how are products going to make someone look and how it makes them feel shows how good or bad a product is and she loves finding out the story behind the brands.
Following the ceremony, there was a unique panel of experts discussing various aspects of the beauty industry chaired by one of the UK’s pre-eminent beauty journalists Lucia van der Post. The experts on this exclusive panel were the world renowned anti-ageing medical doctor Dr. Sister, The Hormone Doctor Susie Rogers and facialist Anastasia Achilleos.
