It’s a fortnight before our first Championships of the year and we’d like to introduce you to our Warpaint Judging Panel for London 2017. A cracking blend of debutantes and faces that you’ll recognise from previous competitions, please welcome our Judges.
Real Beauty – Shana Joseph, National Education and Artistry Manager, Bobbi Brown UK and Ireland.
We’re thrilled to welcome Shana Joseph to the Warpaint Championships Judging Team. A 16-year veteran of the industry, Shana’s career began as a freelancer, moving to Bobbi Brown for the last decade. She certainly knows her artistry education and retail with stints at Peter Jones in Sloane Square and John Lewis on Oxford Street, as well as throughout the UK. Based in London, Shana has also worked in New York with Bobbi Brown herself at events as varied as the Vogue Festival, London and New York Fashion Weeks, and VIP make-ups. Currently the National Education and Artistry manager for the UK and ROI, Shana manages the UK Pro Team and Education Teams and is part of the UK Leadership, and Global Education and Artistry teams.
Runway – Tiffany Kissler, Director of Style and Make-up Artistry, Vincent Longo Cosmetics and freelancer Terri Pace
New to the Warpaint Judges is Tiffany Kissler, Director of Style and Make-up Artistry from Vincent Longo Cosmetics. Based in the UK, Tiffany’s eye to colour and detail is the ideal partnership with such a fashion-forward, innovative brand. Making the transition from speaker to judge, Terri has worked as a professional make-up artist since 2003, after training for two years at Westminster Adult Education School covering all aspects of make-up. She has worked on numerous fashion shows, photo shoots, film and theatre productions and her prestigious list of clients include Daphne Barak (daughter of ex Prime Minister of Israel) Daryl Hannah and the Saudi Arabia Royal Family, as well as with photographers Alison Jackson, Carolyn Cowan, Antonio Leanza and many others. An experienced educator, Terri also runs workshops and private 1-2-1 sessions at Kryolan London City.
Film & TV – Nadia Stacey and Mike Peel
This year’s Film and TV judges have a wealth of work under their belts. Making her debut as a Warpaint judge, Nadia is an RTS-nominated film make-up and hair designer with credits for BAFTA-nominated The Girl with all The Gifts, Pride and Krypton. Read our interview with her here. Judging veteran Mike is a very experienced SFX artist who has worked on everything from Casino Royal to The Descent. The company director of Rogue Creations sfx is an experienced educator as well, teaching at colleges across the country, and has just launched his own range of silicone and gelatine wound prosthetics under the name Mike’s Bites.
Warpaintopia Bodypainting – Jennie Roberts and Cat Finlayson
Our favourite bodypainting judges are back, bringing their extensive knowledge to the table. The founders of bodypainting festival Paintopia and collaborators with us in this year’s debut event, Warpaintopia, they have worked on a huge array of projects and are extremely knowledgeable about the latest products and techniques. Not only are they heading up the bodypainting day, they’re working across the floor on Monday too. This time they’re joined by Brierley Thorpe, stepping up from competitor to judge, they’re worth their weight in gold.

With a background in Fine Art, Maria trained at CMBA before working in film, TV and theatre, until a chance request to help with facepainting at her kids’ schools and she fell in love with the new canvas. The rest, as they say, is history – and her 200k Instagram followers can’t get enough of her work. With a global reach, Maria’s a regular in the media, juggling demoing and teaching with collaborations with many cosmetic companies.
