First up with her favourite feature picks is our Features Writer, Deborah Murtha.
This year has been really exciting – as Warpaint’s Features Writer I get to meet and interview some incredibly inspiring artists and polish up my product knowledge to always stay ahead for all of you. Here are my top three features from the last 12 months.
What I loved about speaking with Duncan was his unassuming nature. This is very much a man who is perfectly happy out of the limelight, busy working on sculpting or applying delicate prosthetic pieces to the most A-list of actors. You can read my interview with Duncan here, where he talks about the tricks behind believable old age make-ups and the future of sculpting techniques.
This was a passion project of mine, and one I would love to return to in the future. My pale Caucasian skin is difficult enough to match to foundations that I can scarcely imagine how difficult it must be for the under-represented darker or olive skintones. The lack of products and brands for the full spectrum of skin is an issue I wanted to highlight and investigate. Hopefully the variety of products we uncovered, from pigment-adjusting drops to brands dedicated to this underserved sector, will help to keep kits fully stocked for both lighter and darker skins. You can find the full feature here.
Our mutual love of horses aside, I was compelled to track down the details for Kelly Cornwell after seeing her beautiful work for actress Alicia Vikander, both in print and for red carpet event looks. Warm, knowledgeable and precise, it was a pleasure to speak to an artist at the top of her game who is versatile enough to create such variety within beauty work. You can find Kelly’s interview here.
