Nothing better in a make-up artist’s stocking than a Christmas palette. True, some are just cobbled together colours repackaged as ‘Christmas!!!’ but other are just to die for. So with only 18 days to go here are our Top 10 most coveted all-in-ones.
Givenchy’s Christmas 2015 Collection, Les Nuances Glacees has the prettiest of palettes for the eyes. A palette of 6 easy-to-wear colours inspired by the delicate nuances of iced chocolate, presented in a snow white frosted case. Reflective pearlescent particles in different sizes create a deep 3D effect to intensify the colours with brilliant shine. (£45)
Shiseido’s Camellia Palette is a festive explosion of colour and is a collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto Inc’s iconic fashion brand Y’s. Using the camellia as both muse and motif, Y’s has designed a holiday package with haute couture elegance. Colour creation by art director Dick Page fills the palette with six fresh, camellia-inspired hues. (£45)
YSL Beaute win on the packaging with their Christmas 2015 Kiss & Love Palette (£59) The gold case covered in red kisses contains for the eyes: High pearl gold, dark brown, silvery shimmer and champagne gold shadows create a glamourous smoky eye. For the lips: two ROUGE VOLUPTÉ shades, Playful Light Pink or wicked Pure Red. Finally, the cheeks feel the first flush of love as a delicate fresh coral delivers a naughty glow.
For sheer rock goddess glamour you’d be hard pressed to find anything funkier that Urban Decay’s Gwen Stefani palette (£40). UD carefully crafted the shadows with Gwen, filling a void by creating the exact shades she always wished she had in her collection. In the end, they loaded this palette with her 15 must-have shades of Eyeshadow (12 are new, and three are from the UD shadow collection). With a substantial range of neutrals and a few jewel tones to mix things up, this is Gwen’s go-to kit to achieve her most iconic looks.
Lancome’s La Palette 29 Faubourg Saint Honoré (£42) is part of their Christmas Collection 2015. Within an elegant black case, featuring the famous doors of the Maison Lancôme in Paris, La Palette 29 Faubourg Saint Honoré is made of; 6 eyeshadows to create a luminous smoky look, and hidden like a treasure under a secret tap – 1 lip base and 2 lip matte colors to create a made-to-measure ombré lips.
The iconic Kevyn Aucoin’s range has something slightly different for Christmas 2015 in the shape of The Contour Book Vol 2 palette. Getting your hands on one will be like finding hen’s teeth, but this palette is well worth the hunt as it features cream and powder versions of his legendary contour products, From three eye shadows to The Sculpting Powder, It includes four ‘The Eye Shadow’ in Brighten, Starlight (luminous light peach/pink), Cool Tan (light brown), Ruddy Earth (rust brown) as well as ‘The Sculpting Powder’, two ‘The Celestial Powder’ In Candlelight, Starlight and two ‘The Creamy Glow’ in Candlelight Cream and Sculpting Cream. Giorgio Armani’s two-tiered Luxe is More Hollywood palette (£125) is inspired by warm and cosy boudoirs from the thirties. The first tier contains ten matte or pearlescent silky eye shadows, allowing for a radiant and alluring gaze. The second tier contains a silky and luminescent compact powder, to combat shine for a flawless and glowing result. This comes alongside two shades of compact cream foundation, to sculpt the face or polish the complexion.
Too Faced has created LE GRAND CHATEAU (£35) This adorable (and oh-so-chic) little château opens to reveal three separate palettes with 18 gorgeous shadows, two blushes, one bronzer, and a deluxe size of the bestselling Better Than Sex Mascara. A romantic evening in St. Tropez; a sunny day in Côte d’Azur; a stroll along the Seine at night—there’s a palette for every party, mood, or taste.
Guerlain’s Ors et Merveilles palette (£56) combines two levels of make-up magic. On the top level, five slightly opalescent eyeshadows in winter hues with notes of champagne, brown and gold, combined with a twist of plum and pink for an iridescent make-up result. On the lower level, four versions of pink blush with matte or shimmer finishes can be used in a duo to revive cheekbones and freshen the complexion.
Dior created their multi-look palette for Christmas 2015. Inspired by runway shows for the custom creation of two iconic make-up looks – radiant Glow and professional Smoky.
