We’re already on the edge of our seats waiting for New York Fashion Week to kick off the month of inspiration and trends for the next year. As the weather starts to swing into Autumn territory, we can’t help but pine for the bright Spring looks which will be coming our way, a cruel reminder of the months between then and now – which is partly why we were so taken by these images from Irish artist Paddy McGurgan. These bold eye and lip looks had us sitting up and taking notice immediately – taking in the play between colour and texture, the unabashed bright shades and the subtle tones.
Titled “The love of beauty is taste, the creation of beauty is art,” Paddy knew he wanted to keep his attention focused to two the two most versatile areas of the face. “Eyes and lips are two of the most alluring and appealing parts of the face. Texture was definitely an aspect that was considered, something we focused upon as we wanted to show [these areas] as different platforms for creating texture, light and colour through the medium of make-up.”
This isn’t the first time Paddy’s colour work has blown us away, and we doubt it will be the last – he was the natural choice for our Fashion Head Judge at Professional Beauty Ireland in October. If you want the opportunity to be critiqued by him and our other fantastic judges, and be in the chance with winning up to €250, you can find more information about the competition here.
