As the rise of the smart phone photographic app means virtually everyone can blur the lines, wrinkles and blemishes away on a photo, cosmetics houses have had to work hard to do the same in the real world.  Warpaint rounds up our favourite blurring products designed to smooth and prep the skin.

Essentially blurring means priming, the products work to create a smooth surface that make pores, wrinkles, fine lines, or uneven textures less noticeable and help create a flawless canvas for foundation application.  Because most ‘blur’ the pores and smooth the surface of the skin, you’ll end up with a matte complexion that feels silky smooth.  Ironically, these products blur the lines between make-up and skincare too, because many are packed with surprisingly high SPFs, vitamins, moisturisers, and anti-ageing nutrients and formulations.

Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch £26.50

Instant Smooth fills and evens out as it glides over the skin thanks to the line-filling and skin-smoothing Acacia Micro-Pearls – miniscule spheres of dehydrated Acacia – which lodge themselves in wrinkles and like tiny sponges swell and plump the skin as they absorb moisture.  It contains a new and very effective Line-Minimiser Pigment which doubles the usual level of soft-focus light reflection, and in doing so obscures wrinkles.  This new pigment also evens and enhances skin luminosity by brightening facial shadows.  Silicone Gums give Instant Smooth a gliding texture, with plant Triglycerides to nourish and Vitamin E to protect.

Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector £23.00

The Micro-Blur Skin Perfector is a lightweight formula that provides both an immediate blurring effect to visibly transform the look of skin in seconds, and an improvement in the appearance pores and skin texture over time.  The formula contains light reflectors to visibly transform the look of the skin, creating a smoother-looking, pristine complexion.  With Lipo Hydroxy Acid (LHA) and lentil extract, this skin care formula also provides long-term results, helping to refine the appearance of skin texture, diminish the look of lines, and reduce the appearance of pores when used daily.  The Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector is formulated for usage during the day and can also be used at night.  For nighttime use, it should be applied as the last step of a skincare routine.

Indeed Labs nanoblur £13.33

nanoblur is a skin perfecting and blurring product that transforms skin by minimising the signs of ageing, softening the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet and enlarged pores to give a smoother complexion.  Originally formulated to tackle concerns created by HD cameras that would highlight the slightest of skin imperfections, nanoblur uses the most advanced form of optical prism technology to literally blur any lines and flaws on the skin.  It combines millions of micro-prisms to create the appearance of a poreless complexion.  The water-based formula also means it fits easily into any daily skin care routine and can be worn alone, applied under or mixed with a make-up base, or even patted over the top of a finished look.
