We were so stunned and saddened to hear of MUA Ashley Ward’s untimely passing. After being diagnosed with liver cancer last year, Ashley passed away on Monday, leaving behind scores of people who mourned the loss of her brilliant spirit and talent.
Her generous and effervescent personality made her a favourite with beauty editors, designers and other artists. Never without her statement red lipstick, the world is a quieter place without her. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
The Art Department has an inspiring catalogue of Ashley’s work, and Red Magazine’s Annabel Meggeson has written a moving post about the magazine’s long-standing relationship with Ashley, as well as her own personal sorrow.
Hairstylist Sam McKnight left a touching tribute on Vogue’s website, saying “Ashley was not just an enormously creative make-up artist. She was much more than that. She loved this creative world we inhabit, not only making the girls (or boys) up to perfection, she made everyone she touched feel at once beautiful and relaxed in her chair, laughing and joking all day.”
