Healthy, not overheated, is the look for this season, and these products certainly deliver. With the contouring craze still going strong, we thought we’d bring attention to some of the beautiful new blush formulas available to add a flush of colour to cheeks instead of regimented structural looks.
The new Stila Watercolour Blush formulas are winning rave reviews, and we can see why! The vivid colours translate into a delicate watercolour wash when pressed onto cheeks, in a lightweight and cooling formula. The colour pigments are suspended in a transparent water base, which is how they achieve the true-to-colour effect in a sheer finish. The netted pot system, akin to the cushion compacts sweeping the foundation market, is perfect for storing and delivering the colour. Long-wearing and waterproof, they currently have a range of five colours, and retail at £20.
We couldn’t mention watercolour blushes without also mentioning Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour Fluid Blusher (£15.50), with its ever-increasing shade range. With a colour for every skintone you could think of, this fantastically blendable blush is a game-changer. Another water-proof and long-lasting formula, Daniel’s blush comes in a handy bottle which is great for transporting. Shake up and use one drop (that really is all you need!) to add a pop of colour to cheeks, which can be built up from transparent to bold. Fancy trying it out before investing? Daniel has sample sizes in a variety of colours for just £2.
Lip and cheek multi-use products are nothing new, but the latest release from Burberry does actually show us something different with their Lip and Cheek Blooms (£24). With an unusual cream texture which we can only describe as ‘bouncy’ and almost gel-like, these matte shades are much more lively and natural in appearance than your usual mattes. Velvety, petal-soft and buildable, we want them all!
Collection‘s new Speedy Blush and Gorgeous Glow Blush Block are both great additions, whether you’re Team Powder or Team Cream when it comes to cheeks. The fool-proof twist-up stick format of the Speedy Blush adds to the roster of similar products on the market, but with a couple of great shade choices and a £3.99 price tag it’s a sure-fire winner. The Blush Block is again nothing new, but the mix of colours and shimmer is perfect for a sparkling, highlighted cheek look. Prefer a more bronzed look? A Bronze Block has been launched right alongside it.
Sure to prove another big hit on the high street are the new Bourjois Aqua Blush 12h (£8.99) – we’ve been obsessed with them since we first tried them. The ultra-fresh gel formula is cooling like sorbet, and the four colours blend out beautifully into natural and radiant colour. The ‘Inge-Nude’ shade is a stroke of genius, adding a subtle touch of colour and healthiness to paler complexions, while ‘Berry Nice’ would be wonderfully juicy on darker tones. They launch this month, so keep your eyes peeled!
Clinique have recently added four more colours to their popular Cheek Pop range which launched last year. These powder blushes are so soft and pigmented that they truly feel buttery, and if you haven’t tried them yet then you really should! The new colours range from peachy-orange ‘Melon Pop’ to the brightening pink of ‘Rosy Pop’ (£16.50).
Launching later this week is the bareMinerals Pop of Passion Blush Balm (£20). This limited edition release has an incredibly light texture, which works to hydrate and nourish while delivering sheer colour which can be built. Perfect for summer and editorial shoots, this slightly glossy finish gives a freshness to the face.
