A brand that has always supported the next generation of beauty and make-up professional, Skin By Sterex has announced the launch of their very first Student Make-up Honours competition. The competition is open to Level 2 and Level 3 make-up students from all UK beauty schools and colleges.
To enter the competition, students must be currently in education working towards their qualification and must submit one of their designs to be judged by a professional panel of experts by 8th May 2015. The students in the Level 2 and Level 3 categories with the top 15 designs will then compete in a live final on 10th June 2015 at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College (Nuneaton Campus). The theme for both competitions is Cultural Fusion.
Level 2 Student Make-up Honours Competition
The Level 2 students are asked to create an editorial / catwalk style make-up based around the Cultural Fusion theme, including hair / wigs to complete the overall look. The first stage is the design submission heat, in which all designs will be judged by a panel of experienced industry professionals. The Level 2 students with the top 15 designs will be invited to compete live at the final event. The second stage is the live competition. At the live competition the Level 2 competitors have 1 hour 30 minutes to complete their look.
Level 3 Student Make-up Honours Competition
The Level 3 students are asked to create a torso, face, neck, head design using the Cultural Fusion theme, complete with a costume to finish the look. The first stage is the design submission heat, in which all designs will be judged by a panel of experienced industry professionals. The Level 3 students must include airbrushing in their design. The Level 3 students with the top 15 designs will be invited to compete live at the final event. The second stage is the live competition. At the live competition Level 3 competitors have 4 hours to complete their look.
The judging panel for both live competitions will mark the competitors on the following criteria:
Area set up, presentation and professionalism; Application techniques are being used for suitable purpose and carried out correctly and dramatic impact and overall finished effect.
The winner in each category will win a unique mentor experience with an accomplished Make-up Artist working in the film and TV industry, a fund of £500 to spend on Mistair and Stageline Professional products and a Skin By Sterex bespoke training course package worth £300. In addition the staff at the winning college, will win a CPD (Continued Professional Development) day for staff at the designated college.
