As much as we love the big Hollywood award ceremonies, it can be disappointing that so few honour the incredible work of the make-up artists who help an actor to assume their character. Which is why we were delighted to see the full, extensive list of nominees for this year’s Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists (IATSE Local 706) Guild Awards. With a record number of entries, and more categories than ever before, it is a show of talent which covers multiple genres and guises – from film and TV to commercials and theatre.
Winners will be revealed during a ceremony held on the 14th of February at Paramount Studios, with voting open until the 10th of February, 5 pm (PST).
This year’s Lifetime Achievement awards are being presented to the fantastic Rick Baker and Emmy-winning hairstylist Kathryn Blondell. Meanwhile, producer/director/writer Guillermo del Toro has been awarded The Distinguished Artisan Award, presented by filmmaker John Landis.
