Getting Social – #Editorial

This week we’re back to Getting Social, and turn our radar to all things editorial.  Whether it’s an image or a video, a tweet or a Tumblr post, Warpaint trawls the web to find links that excite.

Pretty Pinteresting

We don’t know about you, but we find Pinterest to be a veritable goldmine of inspiration – especially for artistic, interesting editorial looks – so much so that we’ve created a Pinterest board of looks – check it out.

Illamasqua Once Dreaminess

Once-Illamasqua

We’re in love with the dreamy editorial look of the new Once collection ad from Illamasqua.  The richness of the colours and delicacy of the images display the edge you can expect from Illamasqua.  Our product picks of the collection are the new Vintage Metallix cream eyeshadows, especially the burnished copper-brown of Embellish.

Illamasqua has also been busy on Social Media promoting their latest work with the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, a new single by Bad Pollyanna, whose proceeds go to Foundation.  You can find more information here.

Givenchy Gorgeousness

How luxe is the new A/W advert for Givenchy?  It has sent us running for our deep berry lip colours and our contour kits.  Undoubtedly striking, it’s definitely not a look for the faint-hearted – we won’t be bleaching our brows any time soon.

Seeing Red

Speaking of striking, we found this video by queen of the tutorials, Lisa Eldridge, on how to create the perfect eye look using shades of red.  It’s always a tricky balance with red, as it can make the eye area look sore or unhealthy if not done right.  Take some tips from Lisa to develop an amazing bold look.

While trawling through Lisa’s extensive catalogue of videos, we also found this great one from behind the scenes on a Vogue shoot.  A great example of adapting and evolving a look, pushing colour and texture further to try and capture the perfect look for your client.

Miss Misha

We came across Misha Shahzada’s stunning portfolio of editorial work and knew we had to share it.  Several of her most beautiful looks are very natural, which is what we wanted to highlight: editorial can be bold and brash, yet it can also be highly understated, with an interesting twist.  Either way, Misha is a master of both.  Enjoy!

The Round-Up

Never miss out on beautiful editorial inspiration with these useful sites which list the very latest and greatest.

BeautyScene.com

Beauty Scene is great for listing the hands and faces behind editorials from across the world, as well as featuring reviews and industry news.

EyeshadowLipstick.com

With a huge library of images to scroll through, it’s easy to spend hours discovering both little-known and celebrated editorial looks.  Again, the credits to the MUA, models and products are well maintained.

Glassbook

Artsy magazine Glassbook has a handy gallery of all of their editorials, featuring some great make-up looks.

Tumblr Time

Tumblr, like Pinterest, is the perfect place to get a quick hit of inspiration.  Their excellent search and tagging function means it is so easy to find stunning editorial looks.  Like a visual version of Twitter, it’s the best place to get the latest news and looks ASAP during the likes of Fashion Week.
