Summer 2014 will be remembered for one thing cosmetics-wise: colour. The season launched with an explosion of pink and with the pigment-packed make-up from the previous September’s Fashion Week working its way through.
So it’s with interest that we noticed a little micro trend developing, the intriguing case of the pink and orange lip duos. Over the last few weeks brands are pitching their ‘oh so bright’ fuchsia pinks and neon oranges as additions to existing lines or limited edition stand alones.
Warpaint found our favourites, so bright, you’d going to have to wear shades.
Maybelline’s Colourfast Brights has four new shades for Summer and we love Flash of Fuchsia, Neon Pink and Burst of Coral (£6.99).
Reflets D’Ete De Chanel is their Summer Collection, bursting with tropical shades. The Levres Scintillantes are five new pinky orange lip glosses. Sexy is the real fuchsia and Sunny the ultra luminous orange (£22).
Illamasqua has new Matte Lip Liquids for Summer. With its heart in the electric neons of the ’80s, this collection includes three new lip shades – we noticed Exotic, a vivid orange and Forbidden, a sensual pink (£18.50).
By Terry’s clever Tint to Lip are water colour lip stains that plump and when shaken become more intense. In the obligatory Pink and Orange you get Beach Game and Pink Palace (£22).
YSL Beaute’s Baby Doll has proved a successful collection. This summer’s Kiss and Blush additions include Intrepid Duo in Fuchsia Desinvolte and (£27).
Poppy King aka The Lipstick Queen got the orange so right with Jungle Queen (£20) and add Perfect Wave (£18) from the Endless Summer Collection to counter with a punchy pink.
Benefit’s famous Lollitints have made it across to the lips with the launch of the tinted lip balms to match. This means ChaChatint now has the orange ChaChabalm and Lolltint has pink Lollibalm (£14.50).
Estee Lauder has a dedicated lip duo just for 2014. The Pure Colour Lip Duo in Ambitious Pink and the neon orange Daring (£24) are bright as a new penny and the perfect fuchsia/neon combo.
Bourjois set the bloggers alight with their Pink Pong (£8.99) from the Rouge Edition Velvet Collection; add Hot Pepper for the orange and you have the perfect pair.
Little bit obsessed with OCC Lip Tars (£12) and you’ll get no bolder than Pretty Bay or Stalker, thick, slick and bursting with pink and orange pigment.
As every lip needs a liner, who else but MAC could create the perfect Fuchsia Orange lip trend pencil pal just in time? From the Summer Playland Collection you can get your hands on Process Magneta or Genuine Orange (£14).
