The clock is ticking and with just over a week to go, things are hotting up for the Warpaint Conference at Professional Beauty London on 23rd and 24th February. With two days of seminars and a diverse programme covering all aspects of pro MUAs, Warpaint introduces you to our inspiring speakers.
11:00 – 12:00, Sunday 23 February
Presenters: Laura Brown and Laura Walker, jane iredale Topic: Retailing in Salons
Sunday’s sessions kick off at 11am with US mineral brand, jane iredale, whose session on helping beauty professional to boost retail income is hosted by Business Development Manager Laura Brown and MUA Laura Walker. Often seen as an afterthought, upselling make-up provides a significant income. Watch the Lauras’ demonstration and learn simple sales tips that enable you to link sell make-up with every service you offer. Clients have to buy their make-up somewhere, so why not from you?

Presenter: Collette Casey
Topic: Looks for Editorial and Working With Celebs
Session 2 at 12:30 features Manchester favourite, Collette Casey. Collette has been part of the hair and make-up industry for over a decade, gleaning vast experience over a wide range of industry aspects, concentrating mainly on celebrity, photographic and advertorial. Over the years Collette has worked with many high profile clients from Nike to John Lewis. She has also worked with numerous celebrities from David Beckham to the casts of Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Her work has appeared on the covers of countless national magazines and you would also have seen her work on the red carpet. Collette is passionate about hair and make up and loves to work as a team to creative beautiful timeless images.

Presenter: Dani Guinsberg
Topic: Flawless Skin: How to achieve the Perfect Base
From 14:00, expert Make-up Artist and Founder of The Session School London, Dani Guinsberg, will give insider tips on how to achieve her signature flawless skin – the secret to all good make-ups. Dani will demonstrate her 10 steps to Complexion Perfection while simultaneously advising which products are best for the most common skin types. Her demonstration will also include sculpting the face using the most flattering techniques for the various face shapes. This not to be missed exposé will give you some fresh ideas on skin.
15:30 – 16:00, Sunday 23 February
Presenter: Armand Beasley
Topic: Industry Faves – secrets of the MUA’s kit
Often make-up artists and beauty salon owners work with just one or two brands so this session is geared to opening your eyes to other brands out there. Armand will create a look using some of his favourite industry products. This is the perfect seminar for any make-up artist, beauty therapist or hairdresser to learn, not only some tips and techniques, but what products actually work from the beauty retail industry that can be a minefield, not only for the consumer, but for the salon owner as to what products to stock. Armand’s 20 years experience in the industry has garnered a wealth of knowledge which has seen him be a firm favourite on various TV makeover shows. He has contributed to many magazines from Vogue to Harpers Bazaar and this seminar will allow any industry fan witness how versatile a make-up artist kit can be.

Presenters: Jennie Roberts, Catriona Finlayson and Laurence Caird, Paintopia
Topic: Body Painting: Creating Vintage Clothing
Jennie has been a freelance Face & Body Artist since 2007, typical work for her ranges from local birthday parties right through to high profile film premieres. She is the founder of the UK’s largest bodypaint event, Paintopia Face and Body Painting Festival that is held annually in Norfolk. Originally a Science Teacher, Cat has been a freelance Face & Body Artist for almost 8 years. She has won numerous awards for her amazing skills over the years and along with Jennie as assistant and Laurence as Model she will be competing in the World Championships in Austria in summer 2014. Laurence is a scientist by day and originally began body paint modelling in 2010 under encouragement from a friend. He quickly fell in love with the art form and has gone on to model for numerous artists at a variety of events including IMATS London and the World Bodypainting Festival in Austria. Together they are Paintopia and bring you their incredible illusions through the medium of bodypaint.

Presenter: Heidi Scarlett King
Topic: The Modern Smoky Eye: Bold Berry Eye Trends
Heidi Scarlett King is an Australian-born make-up artist with over 12 years experience in the world of fashion, celebrity & TV make-up. Heidi also appears on ITV’s This Morning show as a resident Beauty Expert offering the latest looks and make-up trends, as well as regular beauty writer for various publications. With countless fashion shows, editorials, red carpet make-ups and TV productions under her belt, Heidi is the go-to artist for all things beauty.

Presenter: Ema Doherty
Topic: How Colour Really Affects The Skin
Having a career spanning 18 years Ema uses her experiences in the West End, Print and Cosmetic Brand Management to give her brides a unique and colourful design service. In association with Red Leopard, a company dedicated to providing Style and Colour advice for individuals, Ema will be sharing her experience with you during her demo. A visually scientific guide to how the right colours enhance the skin and eyes, slim the face and bring out youthfulness, Ema demonstrates through a colourful bridal make-up.
15:30 – 16:30, Monday 24 February
Presenter: Mike Peel, Rogue Creations
Topic: 3D Transfers and Direct Appliance Make up FX
Mike Peel is a freelance SFX and artistic director of Rogue Creations SFX. Over the years Mike has worked for many of the top effects companies in the UK with credits on The Descent, Harry Potter, V for Vendetta, Casino Royale, Evil Aliens and many more. Mike will be creating FX make-up using direct appliance materials such as super sculptey, prosaide and cabosil and 3D transfers.
